Marlene L. DeCenso 1932-2025
YOUNGSTOWN — Marlene L. DeCenso, 93, passed away surrounded by her family, Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2025, at Hospice House in Poland.
She was born Jan. 14, 1932, to Jess and Beverly Martin in Youngstown. She graduated from South High School.
On Sept. 9, 1950, she married John DeCenso, who preceded her in death in October 1997.
Marlene cherished her time caring for her family as a homemaker, and prior to marriage, worked as a secretary until they had children.
Spending time with her children was very important to Marlene. She was a den mother for Cub Scouts and a troop leader for Brownies.
Friends were also an important part of Marlene’s life. She spent time golfing with friends at Dogwood Golf Course in the Tee-Timers League. Bowling at Wedgewood Lanes was another hobby she enjoyed with friends.
She enjoyed traveling and family vacations to Florida, Lake Erie, California, Bermuda, Hawaii and other locations around the U.S.
Left to treasure her memory are her two daughters, Joanne (Ron) Musgrove of Austintown and Susan DeCenso (Cheech Nerrone) of Youngstown; and two sons, John (Patti) DeCenso of Austintown and Robert (Amy) DeCenso of Austintown. Marlene also had many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, a sister, Judy Chabut; a grandson, Kyle Vincent Long; and a granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Beacham.
A private gathering will be held by the family at a later date.
