Thomas Campana, 1948-2025

POLAND — Thomas Campana was called to his eternal resting place on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025. At the age of 76, he passed away peacefully in his sleep after a long battle with dementia.
Tom was born Dec. 27, 1948, in Youngstown. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1965 and soon after joined the military and served during the Vietnam Conflict.
He worked at Cold Metal Products in the steel mill for over 30 years before retiring.
After retirement, Tom continued to keep himself busy. One of his favorite jobs was helping to take care of his great-niece, along with his wife, Patti, until his great-niece started preschool.
Tom was a healthy man who found enjoyment eating delicious, hearty meals and working out every day until his health started to decline. He loved watching boxing matches, Westerns and action movies. He was a “doer” and was in fact, always doing something, such as working around the house and cleaning / detailing his cars, which was another passion of his. He often enjoyed attending car cruises and car shows around the area. Above all else, he loved his family, especially his wife, Patricia Campana, whom he married on Jan. 8, 1989, and their son, Marc.
When he wasn’t busy with his house and cars, he enjoyed spending time with his family and his dogs. Over the years, he had two beloved dogs, Bullet and Bruiser. Children were a light in his life, as much as he was a light to them. It wasn’t uncommon to see him fully absorbed in play with his great-nieces and nephews at a family function.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Patricia; his son, Marc (Jeni) Viglio; and his grandson, Blanton Thomas Viglio. He also leaves behind his sisters, Joann (Greg) Fagnano and Lois (John) Tkach; his sister and brother in-law, Gayle and Albert Melia; his nieces and nephews, Ashley (Martin) Zenobi, James Huff, John Tkach, Joseph Fagnano, and Debbie and Karen Tkach; and great-nieces and nephews.
Tom was preceded in death by his father, John and his mother, Elizabeth.
His family would like to extend their most sincere gratitude and appreciation to the wonderful staff at Maplecrest Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation for loving and caring for “Campy” during his time there.
Invitations will be extended to family for a memorial service at a future date.
Arrangements are being handled by the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland.
