Tracy L. Smith 1971-2025
YOUNGSTOWN — Tracy Lynn Smith, 54, of Youngstown, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, Jan. 29, 2025, after a courageous six-month battle from an acute illness, with her loving family by her side.
She was born on Jan. 7, 1971, in Youngstown, and graduated from Austintown Fitch High School. Tracy loved to learn and graduated from Youngstown State University with a Bachelor of Science degree, followed by her Master of Science degree. She then continued her education at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico and got her degree in medicine, followed by earning a Bachelor of Nursing degree from Kent State University and then earned her Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Degree from Capella University.
Tracy was employed for many years as an acute care nurse practitioner with 911 Rapid Care and Mercy Hospital Emergency Services until her illness. She also taught clinical nursing at Eastern Gateway Community College and Youngstown State University s Anna M. Brown
1950-2025 with teaching pathology and immunology at Cleveland State University. Tracy was a member of the Sigma Theta Tau (Nurses Honor Society), the Red Hat Society, the ANCC, the Eastern Star Opal Chapter and the Argus Lodge 545. Tracy will always be remembered for her passion for learning, generosity, humility and willingness to help any in need. She was talented and enjoyed doing artistic drawings and paintings, attending concerts and absolutely loved cats.
Tracy leaves behind to hold onto to her memories, her mother, Rose (Paul) Mucci; her father, Martin (Renee) Koliser; her siblings, Erik (Jessica) Koliser, Elie (Aurthur) Beem, Paul (Andrea) Mucci and Jessica (Kevin) Health; her aunts, Godmother Linda (Frank) Yazbek, Grace (Chris) Cole and Fran (Richard) Clark; an uncle, Nick (Katlin) DePaola; and her beloved 12 fur babies along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Tracy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank E. “Pig” Russell Jr. who passed away on Oct. 13, 2023; her brother, Martin Koliser and maternal grandparents, Tom and Grace DePaola.
Family and friends may pay their respects to Tracy from 5 until 6:50 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2025, at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman, where a memorial service will take place at 7 p.m. with Pastor Dan Tayman as celebrant.
