POLAND — Violet Colangelo Malvestuto, 88, peacefully departed this earthly life, Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Violet was born May 22, 1936, in Youngstown, and was a lifelong resident of Ohio.
She graduated from Struthers High School in 1955 and worked for a brief time as a secretary at Ohio Water Company before marrying her beloved husband, Erminio, whom she married in 1961.
Erminio, a construction worker by trade, built Violet the home of her dreams, and together they worked to provide for their children.
Violet was a homemaker in the truest sense of the word. She made everyone who walked through the door feel like they were family. She was always loving, kind and compassionate, and everyone who met her loved her.
Besides raising her four children, she also cared for her younger, disabled brother, and was like a second mom to many of the neighborhood children, treating each of them as if they were her own. She was a sought-after babysitter to many because she had so much love to give. She adored her children more than anything in the world and made sure they knew it each day, not only with constant encouragement and loving gestures, but with unwavering support and friendship. Family meant everything to Violet and she cherished all the fun times when we gathered to talk, laugh and eat delicious homemade food. There was always a gathering or get-together, and she always made sure no one left hungry. She was the mom who was always there with a hug and kiss, who gave everything so her children could have the things that were important. She filled the house with the purest love and she will be missed more than words can express.
She often called people by the endearment, angel, but in reality, she was our angel on earth and God needed her back. Even though our lives are shattered by her passing, we know she is forever in our hearts and will be with us always.
Violet leaves behind her four children, Joseph (Antonetta) Malvestuto, Louis (Bonnie) Malvestuto, Mary (Calvin) Pannunzio and Theresa Malvestuto, her constant companion, with whom she made her home. She also leaves grandchildren, Chris (Lindsay) Lozano, Joey and Jeordie Malvestuto; and great-grandchildren, Bentley and Bria Lozano; dear sister-in-law, Giovanna Lucente, who lived nearby; along with a multitude of sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and close friends whom she loved so much.
Violet was preceded in death by her husband, Erminio; brothers, Benjamin (Barbara) and Anthony Colangelo; sister, Josephine (Frank) Rubino; an infant brother; dear brothers and sisters-in-law; and many cherished friends.
The family would like to thank Comfort Keepers caregivers, Lourdes and Denise; and dear friends, Joanne Bradaick and Karen Cleary, for helping us care for our beautiful momma.
There are no calling hours or services. A celebration of her life will take place in May.
She was such a strong lady and endured so much in life, but she never let it darken her spirit. She was the best of us. “Mom, we are forever connected. Thank you and Papa for instilling in us with manners, respect and love. We will forever strive to make you proud. We love you always.”
Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman. Family and friends are encouraged to offer prayers for the family and support via phone call, text, email or may visit the Book of Memories at www.rossifunerals.com.
