Vivian Koch 1923-2025

PETERSBURG — Vivian Koch, 101, passed away at Adventura at Assumption in North Lima on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2025.

Vivian was born Nov. 13, 1923, in Zanesville, a daughter of Frank and Jessie Maneely Wietelmann. She married C. Raymond Koch on June 6, 1942, and celebrated 73 years of marriage before his passing in January 2015.

Vivian was a homemaker and also helped on the family farm, which specialized in poultry, potatoes and grain. She was a member of the Ohio Farm Bureau and the Springfield Historical Society. She belonged to St. John Lutheran Church in Petersburg, where she was active in the Sunday school program and the women’s groups. She enjoyed gardening and canning.

Vivian leaves to cherish her precious memory, two daughters, Carol, and her husband, Sam McKinney of Salem, and Beth, and her husband, Thomas Bean of Boardman; two sons, Robert (Catherine) of Canton, and Philip, and his wife, Darlene of New Middletown; daughter-in-law, Kim Welsh-Koch of Petersburg; 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Geraldine McCutchan of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; her son, Thomas (2012); great-grandson, Damon Hazlett (2024); daughter-in-law, Patty Koch; and two brothers, Robert and Ronald Wietelmann.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 10, 2025, at St. John Lutheran Church, 14394 Youngstown Pittsburgh Road, Petersburg, OH 44454, with Pastor Aimee Raymond officiating.

The family will receive friends 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, 2025, St. John Lutheran Church, and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Interment will take place in Petersburg Cemetery.
