Cecile M. Toney 1941-2025

YOUNGSTOWN — Cecile Marie Toney, 83, died peacefully, Monday, March 24, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Dec. 24, 1941, in Hayward, Wisconsin, the daughter of Omar Joseph Sagataw and Christine Keshick.

Cecile was deeply proud of her Potawatomi heritage and was a member of the Hannahville Indian Community in Wilson, Michigan.

A proud veteran, Cecile served in the United States Air Force as a medical service specialist at Lackland Air Force Base, a testament to her strong sense of duty and service to her country.

After graduating from Choffin School of Nursing, Cecile began her career at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Following the joyful years of raising her children, she continued her professional journey as a licensed practical nurse in home health, where she passionately cared for others for nearly 20 years until her retirement.

Cecile is survived by four children, Steven (Victoria) Gresh of Westerville, Kristine (Chris) Harirchian of Vienna, Virginia, Kathryn (Bryan) Tarr of Austintown and Carin (Christopher) White of Austintown; seven grandchildren, Lillian (Corey), Mason (Kayla), Carisa, Shannon, Bryanna, Aaron and Lisa; and great-grandchildren, Liam, Vivian and Roman.

Cecile was predeceased by her parents and her husband of 17 years, Ronald Toney. She also mourned the loss of her grandson, Jack Ryan White.

Cecile’s legacy will be honored during visitation 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2025, at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, 4303 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown, OH 44515, with funeral services at 2 p.m.
