John L. Siciliano 1926-2025

YOUNGSTOWN — John L. “Stoogie” Siciliano, 98, formerly of Liberty Township, passed away Friday, Feb. 28, 2025, at Omni Manor in Youngstown.

John was born March 4, 1926, in Youngstown, the son of Augustine and Anna Germano Siciliano.

John entered the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a graduate of Chaney High School, where he played football. John went to YSU and graduated with his bachelor’s degree.

He worked at US Steel as security and also taught at Youngstown North High School. He coached basketball as well.

In his spare time, he loved reading, watching old movies, listening to music and mowing grass. He was an excellent boxer and enjoyed going for walks with his dogs.

John leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter-in-law, Alice Siciliano; and grandson, Joel Siciliano of St. Augustine, along with many nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Anne “Bae” Pezzulo Siciliano, whom he married in October 1950 and loved faithfully until her passing in 2023. He was also preceded in death by his son, Dr. Frank Siciliano, who passed away in 2016; sisters, Christine and Mary; and brothers, Paddy, Tony, Rocky and Jim.

Private services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Blackstone Funeral Home, with military honors.

John will be laid to rest next to his wife in Tod Homestead Cemetery.
