Joseph M. Mayor 1955-2025

NORTH JACKSON — Joseph “Joe” Michael Mayor passed peacefully, after a well-lived life, on Sunday, March 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Joe was born Jan. 5, 1955, to Joseph and Agnes Belcik Mayor. Joe was a graduate of Struthers High School, Class of 1973. He obtained his Associate of Applied Business degree from YSU in 1978. A year later, he earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration.
Joe held various management positions in local steel companies. Joe took advanced classes in metallurgy while working at the mills. In 1999, Joe turned his attention to investing in real estate and honed his craft as a self-taught real estate investor and rehabber. He became known as a local expert in the field, gaining him many friends. Joe was always willing to share his knowledge and mentor those interested in real estate investments.Joe was a member of the Mahoning Valley Real Estate Investor Association and served on the board of directors.
Joe enjoyed attending flea markets, where he was always looking for a deal. He liked to participate in auctions throughout Ohio.
Joe could fix anything and was a true handyman. He always made time to spend with his many friends, and to those who knew him best, they were familiar with his witty sense of humor.
Joe also loved to attend outdoor summer concerts.
On Oct. 25, 1980, Joe married Nancy Peroga Mayor. They shared 44 years together. Above all, Joe showed unwavering dedication to Nancy, caring for her during numerous health battles and challenges. Their marriage and devotion to each other was a testament of true love for all to witness.
Joe and Nancy were members of Our Lady of the Lakes Parish-St. James Church.
Joe is survived by his wife, Nancy Mayor; his brother, Jim, and wife, Laurinda “Renny” Mayor; sister, Agnes Moran; nephews, including Eric Porinchak, Jered Moran, and wife, Casey Moran, Jimmy Mayor and Trevor Moran; nieces, Stephanie Mayor and Sarah Mayor; and many cousins, as well as dear friends whom he treasured.
In addition to his parents, Joseph and Agnes Mayor; Joe was preceded in death by his infant son; father and mother in-law, Joseph and Alice Peroga; brother and sister in-law, Bill and Marilyn Porinchak; nieces, Emily and Faith Moran; and his cherished dog, Rags.
Family and friends are welcome to visitation, 10 a.m. until the time of funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2025, at Our Lady of the Lakes Parish-St. James Church, 50 Rosemont Road, North Jackson, with Fr. David Merzweiler officiating.
A committal service and burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
