Lawrence A. Deegan Jr. 1939-2025

HUBBARD — Lawrence A. Deegan Jr., 85, passed away surrounded by his loving family, Saturday, March 15, 2025, from septic shock secondary to a urinary tract infection, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
Lawrence was born June 11, 1939, in New Castle, Pa., a son of Lawrence A. Sr. and Wilimena D. Smith Deegan.
He attended New Castle High School.
For 27 years he was an ironworker with Union Local # 207 and had to retire early after he suffered a fall at work.
He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Lawrence coached soccer for many years, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his family: his wife, the former Elizabeth Yash, whom he married Dec. 18, 1964; his daughters, Dawn Silvestri-Hudzik (George Hudzik) of Canfield and Kelly Deegan of Hubbard; son, Lawrence A. Deegan III of Hubbard; and two grandchildren, Andrew Deegan and Rylee Deegan.
Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Robert Silvestri; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Anna and Charles Yash.
A memorial service will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2025, with calling hours 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., at Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home.
