Linda L. Shurtleff 1946-2025

CANFIELD — Linda Lee Shurtleff, 78, returned to God’s embrace on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Hospice of the Valley Hospice House, surrounded by her loving family.
Linda was born April 9, 1946, in Lisbon, a daughter of the late William and Phyllis Pannier Rupp.
She graduated from David Anderson Senior High School in Lisbon in 1964 and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in home economics from Bowling Green University.
Linda moved to the Mahoning Valley in 1974 and began a fulfilling career as a teacher. She taught for seven years at Stanton Middle School in the Alliance City Schools before taking time off to raise her two children. Once they were older, Linda returned to teaching at Boardman Local Schools, where she spent several years teaching home economics before retiring in 2011.
An active member of St. James Episcopal Church in Boardman, Linda served on the vestry and participated in multiple church committees. She was also passionate about vegetable and flower gardening, enjoyed traveling, and cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Linda devoted many years of her life to volunteering as a Campfire leader and advisor for the Mahoning County 4-H and Poultry Club.
Linda is survived by her husband of 51 years, James R. Shurtleff, whom she married Aug. 10, 1974; two children, Megan Hamilton and Steven (Emily) Shurtleff, both of Poland; five grandchildren, Carli (Ethan) Hall, A.J. (Hannah) Hamilton, Cole Hamilton, Grace Shurtleff and Garrison Shurtleff; two great-grandchildren, Hayden Hall and Gia Hamilton; and two nephews, Jordan (Nikki) Hall of Cuyahoga Falls and Justin (Robby) Hall of New York City; and one great-nephew, Jacob Hall.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her sister, Suzanne Hall.
Family and friends may call noon to 2 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2025, at St. James Episcopal Church, 7640 Glenwood Ave. in Boardman. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Maureen Major officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material tributes be made to St. James Episcopal Church, 7640 Glenwood Ave., Boardman, OH 44512, in memory of Linda.
