Mary A. Round 1935-2025

POLAND — Mary A. Romo Round, 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Dec. 25, 1935, in Hubbard, daughter of Joseph and Anna Coic Romo. She graduated from Hubbard High School and worked for years at several bakeries around the area.

Mary was an avid bowler, spending many nights at Holiday Lanes, competing in leagues and having a great time with friends. Though she was a homebody at heart, she loved a good getaway. Trips to the beach were a favorite, and she always enjoyed the excitement of the casinos, especially a bus trip to Seneca or playing bingo at St. Nick’s. She had a big heart and treated Judi’s grandchildren like they were her own, always showing them love and kindness.

She was also a great cook, learning from her mother and mastering family favorites — especially her famous roast. Growing up on a farm meant she knew hard work, but she wasn’t a fan of being outside after dark. That’s where her sister Dory came in — she was the one who had to go with her to finish the evening chores, and know she could talk Mary into doing just about anything to do so. Their bond was unshakable, built on love, trust, and a lifetime of shared memories.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her sons, Scott (Judi) and Terry (Colleen) Round; her granddaughter, Amber (Dave) Desantis; her two great-grandchildren, Santino and Angelina; and her siblings, Katherine, Charles, Doris and Margorie.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald D. Round; and her siblings, Louis, Tony, Angeline, Michael, Carmen, Theresa, Albert and Dolores.

Friends will be received from 10 to 10:50 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland, followed immediately by a memorial service beginning at 11 a.m.

She will be laid to rest with her husband in Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material contributions be made to Southern Care Hospice, 970 Windham Court, Suite 9, Youngstown, OH 44512, in her memory.
