Nancy A. Gettner 1956-2025

Nancy was born April 27, 1956, in Youngstown to John and Eloise Cavanaugh Gettner. She was a lifelong resident of the area, a graduate of Ursuline High School and worked for many years in healthcare.

Nancy grew up with a deep love for animals, a passion that began with her father’s hunting dogs and continued throughout her life as she rescued and cared for many lucky cats and a few dogs. She found joy in the simple pleasures — an evening at the casino, chatting with neighbors, a winning lottery ticket, or a lively game of bingo. She loved music and dancing, especially in her younger days when Synergy was playing oldies at the Desert Inn, where she and Maggie would dance the nights away.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents; her sister, Sandy Keith; and brother-in-law, Roy Keith.

She is survived by her niece, Laurie (Greg) Bone of Columbus; her nephew, Brian Keith, and his fiancee, Ashley Reese of Poland; and her grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She also leaves behind her dear lifelong friends Gerri Dickinson, Maggie Coiner and Barbara Williams; and her beloved cat, Inkie.

A private graveside service at Calvary Cemetery will be held at a later date.

In honor of Nancy’s love for animals, the family suggests donations be made to a local animal rescue in her memory.
