Ralph R. Moretti 1943-2025

POLAND — Ralph R. Moretti, 81, passed away March 8, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital, surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Born April 1, 1943, in Ironton, the son of Edward and Diane Collins Moretti, Ralph was a proud graduate of Alliance High School. Ralph excelled athletically, playing varsity football, basketball and baseball. He furthered his education at the University of Cincinnati before earning his bachelor’s degree in education from Youngstown State University. He later achieved a master’s degree from Akron University and was a dedicated member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.

Ralph began his professional journey as a teacher in the Boardman school district, teaching mathematics. He transitioned briefly into a sales role with Franco Harris, but his heart ultimately returned to the classroom. He dedicated many years to teaching in both the Austintown and Youngstown school districts, impacting the lives of countless students.

A man of profound grace and elegance, Ralph was the epitome of a perfect gentleman to his beloved wife, Patricia Carlomagno Moretti. Their love story began in college, blossoming into a beautiful union when they wed on June 24, 1967, at St. Christine Church. Together, they formed a bond that was nothing short of inseparable, hosting numerous dinner parties in their home in Canfield, where Ralph proudly showcased his talents as the best host and bartender. He embodied compassion and class, never uttering a disparaging word.

Ralph’s passions encompassed a lively interest in all Cleveland sports and an ardent love for maintaining his meticulously cared-for home and garden, where he cultivated beautiful flowers. He delighted in challenging his intellect through crossword and sudoku puzzles, showcasing his sharp mind until the very end.

Ralph is survived by his dear wife, Patricia; brothers, Michael (Kimberly) Moretti and Bob (Katrina) Moretti of Alliance; sister, Patty (Ed) Weir of Myrtle Beach; close friends, William Flynn, cousins Donna and Nick Honda; and many nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Joseph and Patricia Carlomagno; and brother-in-law, Joseph Carlomagno Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2025, at St. Michael Church.
