Richard J. Maluso 1949-2025

YOUNGSTOWN — Richard Joseph Maluso, 75, passed away suddenly, Sunday, March 2, 2025.
Rick was born July 9, 1949, in Youngstown, to Sam and Velma Pinkerton Maluso.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served in the Vietnam War.
He married the love of his life, the former Elizabeth Weiszer, on April 6, 1974, and the two spent more than 50 wonderful years together.
After his military service, Rick worked for the United States Postal Service as a station manager before retiring in 2003. He spent his retirement years indulging in his great passions: playing golf, making wine and spending time with family, whom he cherished.
He was a member of Salem Hills Golf and Country Club and spent many days trying to avoid putting his tee shots into the lakes. Rick was an avid Ohio State and Cleveland sports fan and got to enjoy the Ohio State football national championship among his last sporting memories. Rick is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; and children, Sheila (Jon) Leonardo and Tony (Maureen) Maluso. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Nick Leonardo, Greg Leonardo and RJ Souders. Also surviving are siblings, Patrick (Stephanie) Maluso, Joseph (Bernadette) Maluso, Tina Maluso and Robert (Sandy) Maluso.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Sam; and grandson, Jack Leonardo. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2025, at Lane Funeral Home in Austintown.
A funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Monday, March 10, 2025, at St. Luke Catholic Church in Boardman.
