Sarah Ann Smiley 1935-2025

BROOKVILLE, Pa. — Sarah Ann “Sally” Smiley, 89, formerly of McDonald, died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2025, at McKinley Health Center.
Born Dec. 17, 1935, in Summerville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Noah and Lillian Morrison Hughes.
She attended Summerville School and was a member of Church of Christ in Summerville.
On July 13, 1951, she married Charles Burton Lindenmuth; he preceded her in death. She later married Jim Smiley in January 1981; he also preceded her in death.
Prior to her retirement in 1993, she worked as a toll collector for the Ohio Turnpike Commission.
She enjoyed attending church, visiting friends, reading, watching TV and traveling.
However, her greatest love was for her family. She was an exceptionally wonderful mother and grandmother and will forever be missed by all.
She is survived by her sons, Terry (Marian) Lindenmuth, Stephen (Janet) Lindenmuth, David (Jennifer) Lindenmuth and Joel “Scott” Lindenmuth; her daughter, Bonadee (Joseph) Hagstrom; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; as well as her sister, Barbara Davis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husbands, her brothers, William and Robert Hughes, preceded her in death.
Her family will receive friends 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Furlong Funeral Home, Summerville, Pa., where a memorial service will follow at 11 a.m., with Mike Smith presiding.
A time of fellowship will follow the service at Haugh Hall, 12514 Harrison St., Summerville, Pa.
