Shirley Ann Kundel 1941-2025

She was born Sept. 15, 1941, to Raymond and Virginia Filipan. She graduated from Niles McKinley High School in 1960.

She married the love of her life, Terrence “Terry” Kundel, on Sept. 23, 1961. They were blessed with 60 joyous years of marriage before his passing in 2022. We are comforted in knowing they are reunited.

Shirley was a gifted seamstress, baker and homemaker who made sure every detail was always special. She took pride in decorating her household, especially her Christmas room, which she displayed year-round. No one made homemade stuffed cabbage, nut roll or strudel like Shirley.

She leaves behind her two sons, Trent and Christopher Kundel; a daughter, Kimberly Gregory (John Schuster); two granddaughters, Taryn and Tayler Kundel; two grandsons, Tommy and Brandon Gregory; three great-grandchildren, Liam, Ezra and Judah Kundel-Gower; as well as many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Terry; and brother, Ronald Filipan.

Calling hours are 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, where services will begin at 7 p.m. All who knew and loved Shirley are welcome to attend and celebrate her remarkable life.
