Theodore M. Drewek 1967-2025

LORDSTOWN — Theodore Michael “Teddy” Drewek, 58, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born Jan. 6, 1967, in Youngstown, he was the son of Marguerite Ann Garlein Drewek and the late Theodore Alexander Drewek.

Ted is survived by his devoted wife of 25 years, Sandra “Sandi” Battaglini Drewek; his children, Theodore “Teddy” Drewek (Cambrie), Alexandra “Lexie” Drewek, stepson, Andrew Mackey (Keith); and his faithful furry companions, Maliboo and Zoey. He is also survived by his mother, Marguerite “Peggy” Drewek; his siblings, Teresa Santilli (Richard), Tina Drewek (Marshall) and Thomas “Tommy” Drewek (Dina); mother-in-law, Lynda Briach; father-in-law, Carlo Battaglini; nieces and nephews, Kacie Santilli-Saunders (Bryce), Kristian Santilli, Caitlyn Mindek, Jared Mindek, Abigail Battaglini, Rylie Battaglini and Madelyn Battaglini; sister-in-law, Amy Phillips (Steve); and brothers-in-law, Michael Briach (Cassie) and Carlo Battaglini (Amanda).

He was preceded in death by his father, Theodore Alexander Drewek.

Ted proudly served his country as a sergeant (E-5) in the United States Army National Guard Reserve, 324th MP Company, where he earned the Southwest Asia Medal with a Bronze Service Star for his service in Operation Desert Shield / Desert Storm.

After his military service, Ted dedicated his life to protecting and serving others as a police officer with the Bazetta, North Jackson and Lordstown police departments.

Beyond his professional and military achievements, Ted had an unwavering commitment to his community. He volunteered as a Boy Scout leader for his sons and coached countless youth basketball, baseball and softball teams for his children, shaping young lives with his leadership and kindness. His love for cooking led him to start his own business, BBQ Bash, where he shared his culinary talents and frequently donated his time and food to community organizations.

Ted will be remembered for his selfless service, his humor and his deep love for his family and friends. His legacy of dedication, generosity and kindness will live on in the many lives he touched.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Lane Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave., Austintown, OH 44515.

A memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Healthy Heart and Paws Project, healthyheartsproject.org, in Ted’s honor.
