Walter V. Evanoski 1933-2025

WARREN — Walter V. Evanoski, 91, died peacefully, Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Hospice House.
Walter was born April 25, 1933, in New Castle, Pa., a son of Michael Evanoski and the former Gertrude Lewandowski.
Walter earned his master’s degree in education administration from Westminster College. He dedicated his life to nurturing the minds of future generations as a school principal and teacher within the Youngstown City Schools.
Growing up on a farm, Walter developed a profound love for animals. He enjoyed spending his time golfing, bowling and tending to his garden. A devoted sports enthusiast, he cheered for the Pittsburgh Panthers. However, his greatest joy came from his family and being a grandfather. Walter cherished every moment spent with his loving family.
Walter is survived by his wife, the former Linda Varner, whom he married Nov. 19, 1982; daughters, Janet (Rocky) Page of Canfield and Kathe (Frank) Mazzarino of Memphis, Tennessee; sons, Walter (Barb) Evanoski of Houston, Texas, and Edward (Jill) Evanoski of St. Louis, Missouri; sister, Clara (Michael) Gittings of New Jersey; stepchildren, Janet (Christopher Kalis) Misel of Youngstown, James (Tina) Misel of Poland and Jennifer Misel of Howland; grandchildren, Caitlin (Winston) Douglas, Alexis Page, Michael (Kathryn) Evanoski and Grace Evanoski; great-grandchild, James Douglas; step-grandchildren, Sophia and Holden Misel, and Abby and Andrew Prvonozac; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by eight siblings, Martha, Ed, Joe, Leo, Ray, Bill, Bernice and Emily.
Private burial took place in Calvary Cemetery.
