William J. Smith 1948-2025

William was born Nov. 4, 1948, in Youngstown, a son of the late William and Mary Jane Haluska Smith.

He was a 1967 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School. He worked for 35 years as a mechanic shop foreman for Youngstown Buick. He went on to work for Pace Pontiac and retired in 2011 from Preston Motors.

William enjoyed keeping busy by working on vehicles and pressing his luck on the slot machines at the casino. You could often find him during the warmer months sitting on his back deck and socializing with neighbors who became more like family.

Above all, William cherished his moments of being a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Suzon Smith of Bessemer; son, Michael (Nicole) Smith of Austintown; grandchildren, Colin, Dustin and Kylie; sister, Mary (Stan) Wood of Orlando, Florida; and brother, Robert (Diana) Smith of Tennessee.

Calling hours will be 10 a.m. to noon Monday, March 17, 2025, with a service at noon, at Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512.

A committal service will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
