Barbara L. Hyde 1929-2025

She was born May 15, 1929, in Vernon, the daughter of the late John Richard and Martha Josephine Crocker Douce.

Barbara was employed as a file clerk at Wean Engineering for 10 years and for 14 years worked at Howland Springs Elementary as a lunchroom monitor.

She volunteered at the Red Cross and Trumbull Memorial Pink Ladies Group.

Barbara was a member of Central Christian Church, Morning Light Eastern Star #80 and Warren Women’s Republican Club. She enjoyed golfing, traveling and reading.

She is survived by her daughter, Lori Hyde Gerald of Dublin; sons, Kirt A. (Barbara) Hyde of Novelty, Randy L. (Nancy) Hyde of Longmont, Colorado, and David B. (Cindy Nayman) Hyde of Golden, Colorado; grandchildren, Matthew (Karie) Gerald, Gillian (Brian) Hyde Hawthorne and Gabriel Hyde. Barbara was known as great-grandma to Nicolas and Ryan Gama, and “great hammer” to Ella and Ainslie Gerald. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Hyde; and siblings, Gerould L. Douce, Richard R. (Marty) Douce, Sandra K. (Fritz) Suhre and Clarence “Bob” (Alice) Hyde.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.

Friends may call 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Private interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests material contributions be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 34900 Chardon Road, Ste. 105, Willoughby, OH 44094, your local Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
