Dolores J. Schrieber 1933-2025

CAMPBELL — Dolores J. “Honey” Schrieber passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the age of 92.

Honey was born Feb. 21, 1933, in Youngstown, to Michael Yarab and Mary Wolf Yarab.

She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1950 and became a practical nurse through Youngstown Hospital Association in December later that year. If you asked anyone, though, they would say her strongest skill set was in making her house a true home. It was the easiest thing to love and be loved by her.

Honey was talented at many things, but her passion was cooking and baking. Her creations, like her widely beloved kolache, were coveted by all who were lucky enough to get some. If you were seated at her table, she would ask you if she could make you anything — and you were not allowed to say “no.”

Honey was also an avid enjoyer of life. No matter what, she never had anything negative to say about how she was feeling. She found the positive silver lining in every situation she was in, every day. She loved the sun and summertime, and could often be found throwing invisibly small pieces of stick for her dog, Miah. When she had to be inside, she was reading and finding new recipes to try out. She traveled the country, including the Carolinas, Niagara Falls and her favorite: Hawaii. Like the feeling she gave to all who loved her, she was the definition of “warm” and so full of love and happiness.

She is survived by her husband, William “Gus” Schrieber, with whom she just celebrated 69 beautiful years of marriage.

She is beloved and cherished by everyone who knew her, most dearly by her children, Bill (Annie) Schrieber, Patty Manzi, Jimmy (Kim) Schrieber, Terri (Howard) Hoffman, Gary (Marilyn) Schrieber, Carolyn (Dave) Kopinsky and DeeDee (Willie) Suarez. The maker of the fullest family, she is remembered by her grandchildren, Deana (Rob) Klindworth, Kristen (Adam) Bindas, Jocelyn (Michael) Xipolitas, Deanna (Sam) Krell, Michael (Kate) Hoffman, Brittany (Jeremy) Russell, Kevin (Anna) Hoffman, Brooke (Zach) Good, Brian Schrieber, Katie (Jon) Murphy, Amanda Suarez, Will Suarez; and 25 beautiful great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and parents-in-law; her sister Rosella; her brother Ronnie; her son-in-law Bob Manzi; and her grandsons David and Daniel, who are all graciously awaiting to welcome her to her heavenly home.

The family greatly thanks Harmony Hospice for their very special care for Honey, and Titi from Cornerstone Caregiving, who treated Honey like part of her family and showed her so much love.

The Schrieber Family has entrusted Dolores’ care to the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell.

Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2025, at the funeral home, followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m.

Dolores will be laid to rest at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Cemetery in Lowellville.
