Dora Cerone 1931-2025

POLAND — Dora Cercone, 93, passed away peacefully, Friday, April 18, 2025, with her family by her side.
Dora was born Sept. 18, 1931, in Youngstown, the daughter of Gaetano and Carmela Monaco Ferrelli.
After graduating from South High School, Dora became a cosmetologist and worked as a beautician for many years. Throughout her life, she was always well-coiffed, elegant through her final moments.
Dora met the love of her life, Joseph Paul Cercone, and they married in October 1950. While raising their three sons, Samuel (Kathy Katz), Jerry (Teresa) and Jody (Rosie), she worked for Boardman Local Schools at Stadium Drive Elementary.
Dora was a lifelong member of St. Luke Church and was involved in numerous church groups, where she forged many friendships. Dora enjoyed dancing and traveling with her husband, cooking for her family, playing and winning bingo, and being with her grandchildren, Ryan (Sarah Joseph), Alison (Scott) McKown, Jocelyn (Daniel Metzger), Emily Cercone, Marissa (Michael) Devantier and Maria (Andrew) Hedglin. Dora especially loved being around her nine great-grandchildren and was always grateful for the devotion of her nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Frank and Derno; and sister, Josephine Berardino.
The family would like to thank the staff at Shepherd of the Valley-Poland for the compassionate care shown to Dora over the last year of her life and for helping her maintain humor and engagement.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave., Boardman, followed by funeral services at 11:30 a.m.
