Geraldine A. Vidman 1935-2025

ELLSWORTH — Geraldine Ann “Geri” Vidman, 89, passed away peacefully Monday afternoon, April 14, 2025, at Caprice Health Care Center in North Lima.

Born Dec. 12, 1935, in Youngstown, Geri was a daughter of the late Michael and Mary McLandrich Swader and a lifelong resident of the area.

She graduated from Ursuline High School. On Aug. 31, 1957, she married the love of her life, Stephen M. Vidman. Together, they raised five children and shared 59 years of marriage before his passing on Sept. 13, 2016.

Geri was a devoted Catholic and member of St. Michael Parish in Canfield. She also enjoyed attending Mass at St. Paul’s Monastery near her home.

To most who knew and loved her, she was “Grammie.” She cherished family gatherings and had a passion for playing games — especially Yahtzee and Scrabble — where she proudly held the title of “Scrabble Queen.” Holidays were her favorite time of year, as she found great joy in preparing beloved Slovak dishes, homemade chocolates and pepperoni rolls for those she loved.

Above all, Geri was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She will be deeply missed by her children, Mary Ann (Keith) Bacon of Spartanburg, South Carolina, Susan Vidman of Durham, North Carolina, Mikki (John) Hawkins of Raleigh, North Carolina, Stephen (Aixsa) Vidman of McDonald and Betsy (Johnny Grim) Pallo of Boardman. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her brother, Richard (Elizabeth) Swader of Beaufort, South Carolina.

In keeping with Geri’s wishes, a prayer service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Lane Funeral Homes, Canfield Chapel.

As an early stroke survivor, the family requests donations be made to bit.ly/42E05yK for stroke research, in lieu of flowers.
