Gleason J. Murray Jr. 1947-2025

HUBBARD — Gleason J. Murray Jr., 77, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
Gleason was born June 15, 1947, in Oil City, Pa., a son of Gleason J. Sr. and Dorothy Etzel Murray.
He was a 1965 graduate of Neshannock High School.
Gleason had many names that his family called him, “Jack,” “Jackie” and “Papa” to his grandchildren.
Jack was an avid golfer and was a fan of the Steelers, Pirates, Penguins and Duke. He loved spending time with his kids and enjoyed attending sports events, watching his grandchildren, especially baseball. His favorite saying to his children and grandchildren was “see you around campus.”
For 45 years, he was a steelworker at the former Syro Steel in Girard, retiring in 2014. He took early retirement to take care of his wife until he needed help himself.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Hubbard and was a veteran in the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War.
Jack will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his family: his wife, the former Agatha Genova, whom he married June 14, 1969; his children, Vicki L. (Jeffrey) Rowlands, Denise K. Clark and David J. (Andrea) Murray, all of Hubbard; and eight grandchildren, Jakob Spisak, Dominick Spisak, Angela Spisak, Ryan Murray, Brayden Murray, Frankie Clark, Gianna Clark and Vinnie Clark.
He also leaves seven sisters and three brothers.
Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother.
There will be services at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2025, with calling hours 4 to 6 p.m., at Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made in Jack’s memory to National Multiple Sclerosis Society, P.O. Box 91891, Washington, DC 20090-1891.
