Hildegard Dunkerley 1927-2025

She was born March 12, 1927, in Baumgarth, Germany, the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen Dobezinski Kawaschinski, and came to Youngstown in 1959.

Hildegard retired in 1968 from Livingston’s department store, where she had been a salesclerk for many years. She was a 50-year member of the Saxon Club Branch 22, where she was a past president.

Her husband, James L. Dunkerley, whom she married, March 17, 1954, passed away Jan. 20, 2002. Among other family and friends, Hildegard leaves her caregivers and niece, Vera Lynn Barnes and her husband, Bill; a great-niece, Courtney Lynn Russell; and a great-nephew, Christian Cowdery, all of Austintown; and one brother, Helmut, in Berlin, Germany.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers.

Following Hildegard’s wishes, a private graveside service was held and she was laid to rest beside her beloved husband James in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
