James ‘Jim’ Patrick 1958-2024

STRUTHERS — It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James “Jim” Patrick. With his wife and son at his side, Jim passed away peacefully, Monday, March 31, 2025, after many years of severe multiple organ failure and the many complications that came along with it.
Jim was a lifelong resident of Struthers and a 1976 graduate of Struthers High School. Upon his graduation, he immediately joined the workforce, spending afternoons in the shipping department of Schwebel Baking Company, where he made quite a reputation for himself as the Italian guy who always had a joke — or two or three — leading to his co-workers giving him the nickname “Meatball.” He was a proud member of the Bakers Union Local No. 19.
After 33 years, his declining health forced Jim to retire in 2012.
Jim was a kind man who was willing to give you the shirt off his back and do anything for friends and family, a value he instilled in his son. A man with many interests, Jim enjoyed camping in his many motor homes over the years, attending many NASCAR races or polishing his prized Corvette, a bucket list goal of purchasing “one brand new one” that he achieved in 2016. On Saturdays during football season, he was always cheering on his favorite teams, The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Youngstown State University Penguins.
At just 66 years old, Jim lived the longest of those in his immediate family, which the family attributes to advancements in modern medicine.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years, Deborah K. Lombard Patrick; his only son, Corey James; and his rescue canine companion, whom Jim affectionately named Chance. He is also survived by his in-laws, Fred and Dorothy Lombard; brother-in-law, Larry and Debbie Lombard; sister-in-law, Renee and Lee Revis; and his nieces and nephews.
In his death, he is reunited with his parents, John J. Patrick and Grace “Phyllis” Humm; his brother and sister-in-law, William “Bill” and Denise Tocicki Patrick; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family extends their sincere appreciation for the attention and care afforded to Jim from the staff at Mercy Health, Patriot Home Health and his in-home caretakers from Humble Helping Hands.
In lieu of flowers, you may donate in Jim’s honor to The Walnut Grove in Canfield, a special needs inclusive and accessible playground Jim so proudly watched his son support over the last eight years. Donations can be made at TheWalnutGrove.com or by check to P.O. Box 674, Canfield, OH 44406.
The family will receive relatives and friends 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2025, at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave., Boardman.
Funeral services will be 9 a.m. Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Christ Our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas Church, Struthers.
