Jean L. Schippert 1946-2025

PETERSBURG — Jean L. Schippert, 78, passed away Sunday evening, March 30, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Jean was born April 30, 1946, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Stewart and Minnie Young Troutman.
A lifelong resident of the area, Jean grew up in Ellsworth, graduated as valedictorian from Jackson Milton High School in 1964 and attended Youngstown University.
After marrying her first husband, who was in the Navy, Jean traveled the world, living in five states, Guam and twice in India. In 1984, she moved back to Ohio.
Jean worked as a financial secretary for the painters and glaziers union for over 25 years before retiring.
A devoted member of Petersburg Presbyterian Church, Jean served as a deacon, elder and financial secretary. She was also passionate about teaching crochet to church groups and created countless lap robes, prayer shawls and afghans for church members and their families when they married or graduated. Jean was active in the Ellsworth VFW Auxiliary for many years, holding various positions / titles. In recent years, she had also made lifelong friends at Weight Watchers who meant so much to her. Her dedication extended beyond the church as she made hundreds of cat mats for Angels for Animals and was known for the thousands of “scrubbies” she lovingly crafted.
Jean is survived by her husband, John B. Schippert, whom she married in 2008, creating a blended family. She leaves behind her children, Amy (Jim) Scott of Petersburg, Charles Terry of Struthers and Anjuli Terry of Richmond, Virginia; her stepchildren, John P. (Heather) Schippert of Hartville, Scott F. (Kristina) Schippert of New Castle, Pa., Jodi (Johnathan) Moebus of Pennsylvania and Sheila A. Schippert of Austintown; and many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Victor (Sami) Scott, Nathan Scott, Daniel Terry, Alyssa, Samantha, Nick, Brianna, Dylan, Brittany, Austin, Finnigan, Clara and Kai Wayne. Jean is also survived by her sister, Mary Belle (Ken) Dewey of Logan; and her brother, Russell (Carol) Troutman of Greenford; as well as her former sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary (John) Whitney, David (Andrea) Terry, Glenn “Ted” (Donna) Terry and Barry Smith. She will be greatly missed by her nieces and nephews, including Stewart, Dale, Sam “Super Sam,” Jackie, Jeremiah, Kaylee, Caleb, Jackie, Zane, Michele, Timon, Chris, Brandy, Autumn, Amber, Jill and Paul, who held a special place in her heart; as well as many very special cousins.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her former husband, Wayne Terry; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Terry; a stepdaughter, Jennifer Schippert; a nephew, Ben Troutman; and her former sister-in-law, Gale (Dick) Cetto.
Friends and family may call 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Lane Funeral Home, Canfield, and 10 to 10:45 a.m. Monday, April 7, 2025, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m., at Petersburg Presbyterian Church.
