Marlene Connors 1935-2025

Together again
CHAMPION — Marlene Connors, 89, formerly of Mill Run Dive in Liberty Township, passed away Tuesday afternoon, April 8, 2025, at Armstrong Memory Care Assisted Living.
Mrs. Connors was born Sunday, Nov. 3, 1935, in Yatesboro, Pa., a daughter of James and Sarah Snee Murray, moving to the area in 1953.
She was graduate of Shannock Valley High School and upon moving to the Youngstown area, attended Youngstown College and was a resident of Buechner Hall. She thoroughly enjoyed her time at Buechner Hall, a place where she made many friends. She had quite a sense of humor which endeared her to many loving long-term friendships throughout her life.
In her early years, Mrs. Connors was employed by General Fireproofing as a secretary, and when she became a mother, she stayed at home to be with her family.
Mrs. Connors was a member of St. Edward Parish, actively involved with the Liberty Senior Citizens Club and the Liberty Historical Society. She enjoyed Saturdays as a member of a women’s card club that would meet at Wendy’s on Belmont Avenue. She loved volleyball and bowling, and as you noticed, was full of life.
Mr. and Mrs. Connors were passionate about golfing together for many years, and somehow incorporated that they had a beautiful devotion towards one another. They truly defined the meaning of soulmates.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Kelly Connors of Canfield; her son-in-law, Gerald Brandenstein of Girard; daughter-in-law, Donna Connors of Duluth, Minnesota; grandchildren, Kristen (Trevor) Davidson of Duluth, Minnesota, Shannon Marie Connors of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Jacob Brandenstein of Girard; and great-granddaughters, Anna Marie Davidson and Elle Davidson.
Beside her parents, Mrs. Connors was preceded in death by her husband, John Patrick Connors, whom she married Saturday, April 26, 1958, and who passed away Sunday, Nov. 28, 2021; son, Timothy; and four brothers and two sisters.
A private Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, April 12, 2025, at St. Edward Church by the Rev. Msgr. Robert Siffrin.
The family would like to extend a special thank you for the faithful visits and loving support to Marlene during her lengthy illness and loss of her sweetheart John, to Chuck and Gracie Logan, and Barb Tyndall.
