Sean M. Chizmar 1997-2025

AUSTINTOWN – Sean Martin Chizmar, 27, passed away suddenly and peacefully Monday, April 21, 2025, at his home in Austintown.
Sean was born July 16, 1997, in Youngstown, the son of Martin S. and Deborah K. Hearrell Chizmar.
He was a bright light in his family and in the lives of all who knew him. Sean navigated the world with a unique perspective and a deep sensitivity, and his presence brought warmth and joy to his family and friends. Despite his health challenges, he faced every obstacle with determination and strength.
Sean was a gentle giant who radiated sweetness and touched the hearts of many. He had a dry sense of humor that could crack a smile on any face. He loved animals, especially puppies, and children, especially babies. He loved holidays and looked forward to Halloween every year, because his favorite thing was passing out candy to the neighborhood kids.
A gifted artist, Sean had a passion for animation and comic books, in particular Batman. He dreamed of one day creating a cartoon or comic of his own.
He loved his family fiercely and enjoyed going to the drive-in theater with his father to see every new Marvel movie. Sean was highly competitive and loved playing Yahtzee with his mother. With his sisters, he enjoyed playing Mario Kart, but he never needed to be too competitive, because he usually won anyway. His gentle nature was most clearly expressed in his love for his little dog, Bear, who he carried around like a baby.
Sean was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jeri Wick Hearrell, Edward Hearrell, Michael P. Chizmar and Margaret Meenachan Chizmar.
He is survived by his parents, Martin and Debi; two sisters, Candace Hearrell and Jessica Chizmar; and a large, loving extended family who will forever carry his memory in their hearts. Though his time with us was far too short, his gentle and kind spirit will live on through those who knew him.
A celebration of Sean’s life will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. with a memorial service immediately following, Monday, April 28, 2025, at the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel, 65 N. Broad St., Canfield, where friends and loved ones are invited to share memories and honor his journey.
A private ceremony to place Sean’s ashes in the family plot at Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown, will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank Fresenius Kidney Care Cornersburg and the cardiac team at the Cleveland Clinic for their dedicated care. Special thanks to the Angel Carriers staff and owner, Natalie Riley-Rodway. She would often pick up Sean on Fridays with her dogs and take him to Dairy Queen. It was a highlight of his week.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Sean’s name to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northeast Ohio.
