As I listen to all the abortion rights commercials, I wonder what happened to prevention? No one talks about preventing pregnancy! What happened to birth control pills and condoms and being responsible? Have pride and don’t sleep with every Tom, Dick and Harry! Have you forgotten that your body is a temple! You take care of your body! Be responsible! Have pride in yourself and you won’t get pregnant! You are responsible for you and what you do with your body! Abortion is murder! Think before you sleep with someone! You want to use “prevention” — not abortion!

It is good to have an answering machine on your phone. You can receive messages when you aren’t home or too busy to answer the ringing phone. You can also listen to the call and decide to return the call or it can be eliminated if you choose. But, your message should include your first name so someone can know if they are leaving a message for the right person.

Isn’t it amazing how the Republicans are so eager to ban books but not guns!

If the intent is to cause panic and there is resultant injury, falsely yelling “fire” in a crowded theater can be prosecuted as manslaughter. I wonder if this applies to a spray-tanned, would-be dictator for falsely shouting “they stole the money from FEMA, so you only get $750 for your loss”, a blatant lie, told to the victims of Helene in a truly evil attempt to use their misery to pander for votes.

When they came for the Jews, I said nothing because I wasn’t Jewish. When they came for the gays, I wasn’t gay and said nothing. When they came for the RINO’s, Democrats, Haitian’s, motherless women, immigrants, blue eyed people, disabled and Catholics, I wasn’t one of them and so I said nothing. When they came for me, there was no one left to save me. Divisive people gain control by dehumanizing and instilling fear of small minorities until they have full control of everyone.

Today’s Crankshaft comic strip speaks volumes! To continue a theme. “Seventy years ago, ‘Fahrenheit 451’ spoke to the future. A future which turns out is our present!” Thank you for printing that contemporary polemical cartoon. Past is prologue. Wake up America!

Now that the Mill Creek MetroParks Plan to kill our Deer has again begun, a word of caution to residents and onivores. Be aware of wounded deer running for their lives out of the woods into traffic and in your yards. This is going on until next March, every day dawn to dusk. Mill Creek MetroParks said the reason for the hunt is the ecosystem, which improved from the hunt last year, so they increase the numbers to be killed this year!

Year 2 of the 10-year plan by Mill Creek MetroParks to remove the deer from our park has begun. From sunup to sundown every day through March of next year the deer will be killed. This means our park is inaccessible to safely use to walk our dogs or enjoy the park. Speak up! Call the park office! Call Boardman trustees! You are funding this hunt with your tax dollars. Make them accountable. This is wrong and unnecessary.

“Trump is an obnoxious, flawed person …” was the lead buried beneath more than 12 column inches of a Vindy op-ed column in praise of a failed former president who more than doubled the national debt during his time in office. That “…obnoxious flawed person…” will “…do it again” if he is allowed to deceive enough people to believe he is not a despot in waiting.

As a 15-year YSU football season ticket buyer, I am really disappointed in this year’s record. I called the athletic director’s office twice last week. A student worker to me “No one is available,” each time. This office really hurt us devoted fans. They only interviewed two people for this job: Doug Phillips and another — neither had college football experience. Why not a nationwide search?

Everyone complains about their grocery bills, but in a special election we sent a grocer to Congress. Why? Is it unfair to fear a potential conflict of interest? A grocer’s money depends on his suppliers — the very folks jacking up prices and shrinking the size of products. Think he’ll tangle with them? WISE UP. Remember, thou shalt always VOTE Republican is NOT actually one of the Ten Commandments.

I am a Catholic and I believe in separation of church and state. I am disappointed that Pope Francis offered his political opinion concerning abortion in our upcoming election. I think he missed the real issue. We are not being asked to compromise our faith, rather that the government not interfere with a woman making her own choice about her body. If we really believe in separation of church and state, church leaders should not participate in politics.

Former President Trump requests more Secret Service protection while ignoring the jeopardy his corrosive bombast has brought to an entire community. Where is the protection for the residents of Springfield from the scapegoating, fear and hate mongering perpetrated by candidates seeking our nation’s highest offices?

When will people wake up and see what is happening to their country? When government price controls on food creates food shortages? When $25,000 down payments from the government on homes creates increases in housing prices? When government controls every aspect of your life and you find that you have only as much freedom as the government allows you to have? By then it will be too late. Vote for your freedom now while you still can.

How pathetic of the former POTUS to put the blame on Biden, Harris and the Dems for the last two attempts on his life. He’s always the victim! We never had all this “craziness” until he came down the escalator in 2015 with his baggage of “chaos” spreading his toxic, “hateful rhetoric “and “falsehoods” which still exist nine years later. So let’s put the blame where the blame belongs and move on and turn the page already! BTW, “People corrupt politics, politics don’t corrupt people.”

Aghast that the GOP could put forth a worse candidate than Herschel Walker, a morning news guest discussed the racist antisemitic rhetoric of North Carolina’s lieutenant governor. I don’t understand her astonishment; the GOP is backing Trump aren’t they?

Who the heck cares what candidate a well-known female singer endorses? I sure don’t! If any of these kids are voting for Kamala Harris because of this endorsement and not looking into what she is really about then maybe they shouldn’t be voting at all. I’m pretty sure you can still be a “Swiftie”by just liking her music! Donald Trump was a great president and will be again. Vote with your conscience, not with your idol.

In the late ’60s, ’70s and ’80s, the Southern Park Mall in Boardman was the preferred choice to shop. Now, it is left in a trail of dust behind the Eastwood Mall. Eastwood has expanded with many new stores and restaurants. And their spokesman, Joe Bell does a great job. Meanwhile, Southern Park is down to two anchor stores with one rumored to close in 2025. We need someone like the DeBartolos to take over Southern Park.

People don’t move here. Ohio’s extreme gerrymandering is one of the worst in the United States. Why move here? A handful of politicians rule. Voters and their voices are suppressed. It’s like living under a dictatorship. Ohioans, remove this embarrassing blot from our state! Vote YES on Issue 1.

In Casablanca the Nazis sang “Die Wacht Am Rhein”; the free French sang, Vive la democratie!” Rick asked, “Is it worth fighting for?” Laszlo replied, “If we stop fighting our enemies, the world will die. We each have a destiny for good or evil.” Rick told Ilsa, “If it happens, you’ll regret it. Not today, tomorrow, but soon–for the rest of your life.” Laszlo told Rick, “Welcome to the fight. I know our side will win”. Today’s the same.

All the vitriol and crazy talk about immigrants. Wouldn’t a “concept of a plan” to cultivate landscapes in the Southern Hemisphere that would make these people want to stay put make more sense?
