Donald Trump voters did not elect a winner
DEAR EDITOR:
Trump won.
Voters unable to make rent, or afford day care or higher education, or even three squares a day voted for him and his promise to make the mysterious “they / them” pay for economic misery. Voters who mistrusted, for valid or bogus reasons, national government, opted for him. Those who believed his claims our country was weak as he maligned the world’s most powerful military voted for him. Those who listened to their lesser angels believed them, and voted Trump, thinking people of a different skin color, religious belief, country of birth, financial status, gender were inferiors replacing them despite a roaring U.S. economy and declining unemployment.
These concerns will be addressed by 47 when his huge, yet fragile, ego is convinced his action or inaction will return maximum praise and power to him with no regard for the impact on our nation or people.
Specifically, all appointees will be vetted as soon as the FBI becomes a Trump subsidiary with unqualified leaders who never had an opinion the boss didn’t give them. That won’t happen until The Great Trump has exacted revenge on the bureau for following the law and investigating his own behavior. Meanwhile, your freedoms and safety will be ignored along with measures of capability and suitability for nominees to 47’s cabinet and agencies.
Underlying causes of your economic misery will not be addressed. “Drill baby …” is a bumper sticker, not even a patch on a real energy policy which must, eventually, include other energy sources. Right now, just creating the belief that we are short on oil (we’re not) raises gas prices. That’s good for big donors, hence for 47, and that’s what he cares about. Supply and demand, not Trump, mandate honest pricing.
Think he’s showing strength by charging tariffs? Nope. But the prices of the tariffed goods will likely be higher for you. Trump apparently learned recently that ‘groceries’ mean anything you eat. He hasn’t learned that tariffs will make many more expensive or unavailable as we are not the only grocery market buying food.
Believing any tax promise made by 47 is a fool’s errand if you cannot track the money far enough to be sure it isn’t solely a benefit to him or billionaire buds or shell companies of either. That’s the end reason why he wanted the debt limit increased now. Not only would he use it as a black mark against still-President Biden, he would use the higher limit to fund his promised tax cuts.
Think you voted in a winner on any issue because of his policies? Think again.
