DEAR EDITOR:

The Youngstown city administration’s unwavering desire to build the new police and fire complex on the North Side only makes sense from a financial standpoint because the city already owns the former Wick Six property.

The site of the old GE plant at the top of the Market Street bridge is the most logical choice, with immediate access to I-680 and every major artery into the downtown area.

From a public safety standpoint, and a growth and revitalization standpoint, this is the area that makes the most sense. Faster response time for our emergency services and beautification of one of the first areas that visitors see when entering the downtown area should be the primary factors considered when planning for this project begins.

But in typical Youngstown fashion, the Wick location probably benefits someone within the administration, perhaps the one sitting at the top of the heap who also happens to live on the North Side.
