Disrespect will have some consequences

DEAR EDITOR:

I attended the April 7 town hall that U.S. Rep. Michael Rulli deemed a “pathetic spectacle.” The standing room-only event was evidence of this congressional district’s desire to be heard and acknowledged by their government officials. It is alarming that my representative has been unwilling to host a public forum to listen to the concerns of his constituents. What is unforgivable is the sarcastic and dismissive tone in which Mr. Rulli declined the invitation to attend that town hall.

As a registered Democrat, I conduct due diligence on candidates and issues and exercise my right to vote with careful consideration. I have voted and will continue to vote for whom I deem the best candidate regardless of party affiliation because I have respect for the process. I expect my elected officials to be respectful in return and to be available to their constituency. I have been a loyal customer of Rulli Brothers markets for over 30 years. I did not stop shopping at Rulli Brothers when Michael Rulli entered the political arena because he was a Republican. I even cast my vote for him for state senator. Now, however, I can no longer patronize an establishment whose owner exhibits such disdain and disregard for those of his customers who happen to belong to a different political party.

I encourage others who share my sentiments to do the same. I shall miss the wonderful Rulli Brothers employees who have served me over the years and wish them well.
