Slice some salami instead of benefits

DEAR EDITOR:

Just over a week ago, I attended the demonstration against Mike Rulli at his Canfield office location. There was a decent turnout despite being rather blustery. And there were a lot of great signs, such as, “Slice Salami — Not Benefits!” It was noisy, with cars enthusiastically honking their support.

Now comes the hard part. There were no union members there, just former member retirees. And, other than the union staff guy, there was no one there under the age of 50. OK, here it comes … “I had to work.”

Come on, people. The demonstration was at noon and people could take 20 minutes of their lunch break to show their support. And where were the AFL and the local union leaders? Strong member turnout is based on leadership.

Yeah, people are pissed at the Dems, but tough crap! They are the only ones between your necks and the blade. State, county and city workers take heed — they are coming for you next. Blood is in the water. All of us need to wake up to the fact that we all need government, and its workforce, it is simply the price of civilization. The burning question is — who pays for it?
