DEAR EDITOR:

President Trump is singlehandedly destroying the U.S. economy.

The stock market has lost $11 trillion and stands to lose a lot more, since Trump’s inauguration three months ago. The savings and retirement plans of millions of Americans have been lost. Why? Because of a crazy economic policy created by Peter Navarro that states that tariffs are the solution for our economic woes. Crazier still is Navarro’s source is Ron Vera, an invented person! HE DOES NOT EXIST. U.S. economic policy is based on a lie.

All of this is terrible, of course, but the real tragedy is that it could have been prevented. How? Because, the House of Representatives’ constitutional control of the national purse strings, including the creation of tariffs. The Republican-controlled House, which includes our very own Michael Rulli, has surrendered its constitutional authority to a man who is playing fast and loose with America’s economic future.

Trump, unfortunately, is with us for four more years. So, we as citizens have to change the dynamic. Protest, but also, call, email, mail your congressional representative to express your outrage and that enough is enough. Then, vote any Republican in office out in the 2026 elections. It is time that Trump remembers that there are three equal branches of our government, that should be jealously guarding their authority, not fecklessly caving to a tyrant and a fool.
