Barta leads Warren Challenge after 2nd round at Freeway
Qualifying began in the 46th Warren Challenge Bowling Tournament at Freeway Lanes on Saturday.
Bowling in the field of 51 were six former champions. Past Champions include Brad Huey (1994), Mike Benton (2014), Robert Harvischak (2015, 2020, 2021,2023), Bob Haynie (2016), Howie Moore IV (2022) and five-time champion Adam Barta (2009, 2012, 2013, 2017, 2019).
Barta led the first six games of qualifying with a total pinfall of 1,490. Haynie rolled the high game of the day with 269 in the first game and he sat in third place with 1,398.
The second round of qualifying was on Sunday at Champion Lanes. Again, Barta set the pace for the field as he rolled the high six-game block of the day with 1,411 to stay atop the leader board. James Nolen rolled the high game of the day with 280 and he sits in second place after 12 games of qualifying.
The final six-game round of qualifying will be held starting at noon, Saturday, at Cortland Lanes. At the end of qualifying, the top 10 bowlers, based on total pin fall for the 18 games, will advance to the finals, scheduled for noon, Sunday, at Freeway Lanes.
The finalists will bowl 10 games head-to-head in match play to determine the 2025 Champion.
