BOYS BASKETBALL

Niles 46, Girard 42 — Heading into the fourth quarter with a slim lead, the Red Dragons held on to earn the win over the Indians. Avon Fryer led the way for Niles with 17 points while True Carey-Hardin added 11. For Girard, Dom Phillips paced the Indians with 16 points.

Boardman 71, Howland 48 — The Spartans pulled away from the Tigers late with a 23-point fourth quarter. Jerry Smith scored 21 points to lead Boardman, to go along with 17 points from Terrell McDowell. Anthony Chieffo had nine points to lead Howland.

Lisbon 50, Wellsville 45 — Friday night’s close match between the Blue Devils and Tigers swung the way of Lisbon thanks to the fourth quarter. Heading into the final frame, the contest was tied but Lisbon prevailed by scoring 18 compared to Wellsville’s 13. AJ Ramgeet paced Lisbon with 18 points while Aiden Ramgeet and Blaine Barnes added 13 and 12 points, respectively. For Wellsville, Tyrell Watkins tallied 18 points and Darnell Roe lent 11 points in the loss.

Jackson-Milton 59, Springfield 53 — The Blue Jays picked up their fourth straight win Friday night with the win over the Tigers. Ryen Romigh tallied 18 points for Jackson-Milton and Ethan Kerr was lights out from three, making five buckets on his way to 15 total points to lead the Blue Jays. Romigh also became the Blue Jays’ all-time leading scorer in program history. For Springfield in the loss, Aiden Appel tallied 15 points, Isaac Lamorticella added 14 points on four three-pointers and Carson Cunningham also recorded 14 points.

West Branch 47, Minerva 36 — The even-numbered quarters for the Warriors proved too much for the Lions to overcome as West Branch earned the win. Joey Jackson was a rebound shy of a double-double as he led West Branch with 13 points and nine rebounds. In the loss, Jayden Yerger paced Minerva with 13 points.

Grand Valley 63, St. John 62 — Friday night’s contest between the Mustangs and the Fighting Heralds came down to a one-point difference in the fourth quarter as Grand Valley squeaked past St. John. Carter Turk’s team-leading nine points in the fourth quarter, and 21 points overall, helped get Grand Valley the win. Braden Hart also helped, adding 11 points overall for the Mustangs. St. John was led by Vincent Narducci who made five triples en route to a game-high 22 points while Dyln Newsome added 19.

Crestview 35, Liberty 29 — Despite trailing heading into the locker room at the half, the Rebels mounted a second-half comeback to earn the win over the Leopards. Leading the charge for Crestview was Jonathan Best who posted a game-high 10 points. In the loss, Evan Bates and Luke Bates each recorded seven points to lead Liberty.

Newton Falls 71, Southeast 36 — The Tigers picked up their fourth consecutive win Friday night with a thrashing of the Pirates. Landon McGregor tallied a game-high 22 points for Newton Falls. In the loss, Cohen Richardson recorded 20 points to lead Southeast.

Alliance 68, Salem 32 — The Aviators handed the Quakers their eighth straight loss Friday night with a dominant win. Jr Jackson paced all scorers with 21 points behind a strong shooting performance and Kam Burton added 13 as well. In the loss, Deontay Steele led Salem with 11 points.

Badger 62, Chalker 32 — Although the game was knotted at the end of the first quarter, the Braves turned it up a notch and cruised to the dominant win over the Wildcats. Alton Wincheck and Jack Harnett split leading scorer duties Friday night with 18 points each for Badger. In the loss, Pack led Chalker with seven points.

Valley Christian 74, Southern 51 — After jumping ahead early, the Eagles blew past the Indians to earn their ninth consecutive win. Deion Miller pulled in a game-high 22 points, Jaylen Robinson added 19 behind three made three pointers and Jordan Tutwiler lent 12 to lead Valley Christian. For Southern in the loss, Braxton Sloan recorded 18 points.

Lakeview 55, Hubbard 44 — The Eagles pulled ahead early but the Bulldogs’ consistent scoring proved too much as Lakeview earned the win. The trio of Leo Parise, Isaiah Lantz and Jadon Warner paced Lakeview with 17, 18 and 11 points, respectively, combining with eight three pointers with Parise leading with four. In the loss, Kyle Barr also made four threes to score a game-high 12 points and Jacob Hayes added 10 points for Hubbard.

Harding 54, Canfield 49 — The Raiders snapped the Cardinals’ seven game win streak Friday night with a massive All-American Conference win. Chaz Coleman shouldered the responsibility of leading scorer for Harding with 18 points, while Jeremy Sampson sank four three-pointers on his way to 14 points and Davion Herron added 11 more to level the Harding leading scorers. For Canfield, Bryce Roberts made a trio of triples en route to a game-high 19 points, while Drew Shapiro added 10 behind three buckets from beyond the arc.

Lowellville 71, Sebring 26 — The Rockets snapped a three-game skid with a crushing win over the Trojans. Drew Modelski exploded for 21 points for Lowellville and Bruce Brenner added 12 more to lead the Rockets. For Sebring in the loss, Rowles led with eight points.

Columbiana 68, Leetonia 42 — The Clippers improved to 12-1 on the season with a dominant win over the Bears Friday night. Seth Struharik’s 23 points, behind five made three-pointers, was enough to earn him the leading scorer nod for Columbiana and Cooper Brown’s 17 points leveled the Clippers’ leading scorers. For Leetonia, Dylan Johns tallied 17 points and Dylan Brown lent 11 to lead the Bears in the loss.

Poland 49, Struthers 42 — Despite falling behind heading into halftime, the Bulldogs utilized a 30-point second half to claim the win over the Wildcats. Nick Nittoli recorded 15 points and Oliver McCully added 13 to lead Poland in the win. For Struthers, Tyzjere Price drilled six shots from beyond the arc to record a game-high 18 points in the loss.

LaBrae 71, Garfield 43 — The Vikings jumped ahead early and never looked back to dominate the G-Men Friday night. Derek Wilson exploded for 30 points behind a handful of three-pointers while Owen Boone added 14 to lead LaBrae. In the loss, Aidan Hill recorded a team-high 11 points and Preston Gedeon lent 10 for Garfield.

Windham 64, Maplewood 51 — The Bombers picked up a much-needed Northeastern Conference win over the Rockets Friday night. The duo of Carlos Bruton and Nich Hopper recorded 14 points each to Windham while Brandon Petrich lent 13 and Jayquon Smith added 10 to level the Windham leading scorers. In the loss, Kenyan Clover collected a game-high 15 points, Trevor Shipman added 13 and Ethan Nevinski scored 10 points to lead Maplewood.

Campbell 75, Waterloo 63 — No statistics for either team were submitted.

Bristol 67, Pymatuning Valley 64 — No statistics for either team were submitted.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Lisbon 39, East Palestine 33 — The contest between the Blue Devils and Bulldogs came down to the third quarter. The six-point differential was enough for the contest to swing toward the Blue Devils. Jayden Smyth recorded a team-high 12 points for Lisbon. In the loss, Emma Gingher paced East Palestine with 12 points and Jacklyn Ogle added 11 more.

Champion 44, Brookfield 28 — The Golden Flashes picked up their third consecutive win with a throttling of the Warriors. Nearly all Champion’s players scored, but Mackenzie Braham led with 10 points. For Brookfield, Mya Jumper’s 12 points, behind a trio of triples, led the Warriors in the loss.

Southeast 35, Newton Falls 26 — After trailing by 13 points in the first quarter, the Tigers clawed back heading into intermission but the Pirates came out of the gates swinging to claim the contest. Lilly Sait paced Newton Falls with a team-high 10 points. Southeast statistics were not submitted.

Lowellville 46, Sebring 30 — The Rockets’ second half springboarded the team to the 16-point win over the Trojans. McKenna Lewis was automatic from the three-point line, drilling seven shots for a game-high 21 points for Lowellville. In the loss, Reagan Wynn tallied 17 points to lead Sebring.

Crestview 56, Liberty 7 — The Rebels blew past the Leopards in an MVAC contest on Friday night. Addison Rhodes scored a game-high 23 points for Crestview, to go along with nine points apiece from Brianna DiCross and Ava Bucey. Janelle Coleman led Liberty with five points.

LaBrae 51, Garfield 17 — The Vikings cruised to a dominant win over the G-Men Friday night. Marissa Levensky tallied 16 points, Riley Rowe added 14 and Makayla Scruggs lent 12 points to lead LaBrae to the big win. For Garfield, Mandy Cardinal led the charge with eight points in the loss.
