GIRLS BASKETBALL
Springfield 41, Salem 32 — The Tigers took a slim lead into intermission and utilized a 13-point fourth quarter to top the Quakers Thursday night. Jameka Brungard tallied 17 points for Springfield, while Kendall Maughan and Mariana Tuscano each contributed 13 and 10 points, respectively. In the loss, Maddy Andres led with 15 points and Reese Davidson-Chuck was right behind with 14 points to lead Salem.
Poland 39, South Range 33 — The Bulldogs scored most of their points from the charity stripe in the six-point win over the Raiders. Poland was 21-for-38 from the free throw line, and scoring was led by Leanna Boccieri with 13 points. South Range also found itself at the free-throw line, going 11-for-14. Gwen Lawry and Kiera Winner each scored eight points to lead South Range in the loss.
Maplewood 50, Bristol 16 — The Rockets set the tone early, ending the first quarter with a 12-point lead and kept their foot on the gas to dominate the Panthers. Lauran Kreig tallied 15 points and Claire Urchek added 11 to lead the Maplewood offense. Peyton Gall tallied eight points to lead Bristol in the loss.
Lakeview 42, Girard 30 — A strong second half for the Bulldogs was enough to handle the Indians Thursday night. Sophie Irwin recorded 13 points behind a pair of triples to lead Lakeview and Paige Schwartz contributed 11 points. In the loss, Aly Gassman led Girard with eight points.
Chalker 37, Mathews 24 — The middle quarters were the difference maker for the Wildcats in the Thursday night win over the Mustangs. Chalker outscored Mathews 25 to 13 in that time frame to propel the Wildcats. Abby Grimm led the Chalker offense, totaling 18 points — 15 of which came in the middle two frames. Nearly all of Mathews’ offense was courtesy of Rilee Paddock who posted a game-high 21 points.
Windham 50, Fairport 32 — The Bombers got on top early and remained there in the thrashing of the Skippers. Kierrah Sanders drilled a pair of three-pointers en route to a 20-point night to lead Windham, while Makenna Jones added 14. In the loss, Jana Vale converted four shots from beyond the arc to score 12 points to lead Fairport.
Niles 54, Struthers 19 — After a slower start for both teams in the first quarter, the Red Dragons’ offense exploded to dominate the Wildcats. Kherington Stanford claimed the top-scorer slot with 17 points for Niles. Hannah Grimm added 14 and Maddie Yost chipped in 11 points to round out the Niles leading scorers. In the loss, Gianna Martin tallied six points for Struthers.

BOYS BASKETBALL
Jackson-Milton 64, Lowellville 47 — Falling behind as the two teams headed into intermission, the Blue Jays came out of halftime on fire to put up 24 points in the third quarter to launch themselves to the win over the Rockets. Ryen Romigh collected 23 points for Jackson-Milton, with Leo Hines adding 13 to assist the Blue Jays to the win. In the loss, Drew Modelski posted 18 points and Josh Pazel added 12 more to pace Lowellville.
LaBrae 74, Southeast 45 — The Vikings pummeled the Pirates thanks in part to a 26-point second quarter they used as a springboard to earn the win. Derek Wilson was the leading scorer for the game, posting 24 points for LaBrae, while Austin Rowe made five baskets from beyond the arc on his way to a 22-point game. Owen Boone also contributed 11 points to level the LaBrae leading scorers. In the loss, Cohen Richardson recorded 15 points and Zach Keto lent 10.
Champion 54, Liberty 49 — Mike Miller had a career night to lead the Golden Flashes to the win over the Leopards. Miller posted a career-high 26 points behind a trio of triples, while Damien Wickham added 14 points and Christian Williams lent 10 to round out the Champion leading scorers. In the loss, Ramsey Hadi-Cox sunk a pair of three-pointers on his way to a team-high 16 points and Adam Huynh converted four three’s to claim 12 points for Liberty.
Newton Falls 54, Brookfield 40 — The Tigers jumped ahead early and kept it up for the remainder of the game to topple the Warriors. Cameron Huff clipped five buckets from three-point land to lead Newton Falls with 15 points. Dallas Dunlap was also hot from three, drilling four shots for 12 points and Landon McGregor added 10 points to level the victors’ leading scorers. Blake Hammond claimed top-scorer status with a game high 17 points for Brookfield in the loss.
Western Reserve 55, Mineral Ridge 44 — The Rams and Blue Devils were knotted up heading into intermission, but it was the last quarter that set the Blue Devils up for the 11-point win. Western Reserve’s Dom Ricciardi led the Blue Devils with 16 points with Connor Cochran close behind with 15 points. In the loss, Kaden Shaffer and Blake Basista shared leading scorer duties for Mineral Ridge with 14 points each, and Chase Moore contributed 10 points.
