GIRLS BASKETBALL

East 49, Struthers 33 — The Golden Bears clung to a three-point lead heading into the fourth quarter and tallied 19 in the final frame to cruise past the Wildcats. Leading the charge for East was Brionna Wright who tallied 22 points and Alyssa Crankfield who sank a trio of shots from deep to earn 16 points. In the loss, Katelyn Kiimble drilled four triples to lead Struthers with 12 points.

Kennedy 72, Lake Center Christian 38 — The Eagles set the tone early monday night with a 26-point first quarter to cruise past the Tigers. Gianna Pompelia led with 23 for Kennedy, while Laney Condoleon added 16 and Ryley Lawrence contributed 11 more in the win. For LCC, Megan Treen drilled five triples for the Tigers on her way to 23 points in the evening and Lilly Kane lent 10 points.

Lakeview 67, Niles 34 — The Bulldogs breezed by the Red Dragons Monday night after blowing the game open with a 25-point second quarter. Leading the way was Kalyssa Werner with 18 points for Lakeview while Mackenzie Stowe and Paige Schwartz added 13 and 11 points, respectively. In the loss, Hannah Grimm paced Niles with 17 points and Kherington Stanford added 12 more.

Pymatuning Valley 61, Chalker 19 — The Lakers pummeled the Wildcats Monday night after jumping out to a commanding lead. Zoey Painter led the offensive attack for Pymatuning Valley, sinking four three-pointers on her way to a game-high 14 points, Mae Struna added 12 points, Sadie Paul drilled three triples to put up 11 points and Jolene Sharpe added another 11 to level the Lakers’ leading scorers. In the loss, Abby Grimm and Tatum Hudak each tallied five points to lead Chalker.

Harding 39, Garfield Community Learning Center 20 — The Raiders got ahead early and remained atop the Golden Rams to earn the win. Ja’Leah Provitt and Trinity Taylor each tallied 10 points to lead Harding in the win. For Garfield, Curlina Surles led with six points in the loss.

West Branch 39, Howland 32 — The Warriors found themselves trailing by one heading into the fourth quarter but 10 points in the final frame and holding the Tiger offense to only two points paved the way for a West Branch win. Audrey Eaton led the offensive attack for West Branch with 10 points. In the loss for Howland, Maya Kubancsek and Rylie Villwock each tallied nine points to lead the Tigers.

Brookfield 50, Liberty 36 — Brookfield raced out to a fast start in the first quarter and went on to cruise to a 50-36 victory over Liberty. Mya Jumper paced the Warriors with 15 points, while Mariah Norris also finished in double figures with 13. Janelle Coleman was the Leopards’ lone double-figure scorer with 16 points.

Austintown Fitch 36, South Range 35 — Kaelyn Bower nailed an off-balance shot at the buzzer to lift the Falcons to a last-second 36-35 victory over South Range on Monday. No statistics for either team were submitted.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Western Reserve 57, Waterloo 47 — The Blue Devils trailed heading into intermission, but rallied in the second half offensively to claim Monday night’s contest over the Vikings. Connor Cochran paced Western Reserve with 26 points behind four made shots from deep and a perfect six-for-six from the charity stripe. Rounding out the Western Reserve leading scorers was Josh Klasic with 14 points and Dom Ricciardi with 10 points. In the loss for Waterloo, Gage Hawley and Trevor Simons each drilled three triples and tallied 17 and 14 points, respectively.
