BOYS BASKETBALL
Berkshire 44, Champion 38 — The Badgers upset the Golden Flashes in Wednesday’s opening round of the Division V district tournament. Berkshire’s Cameron Beam led the offensive attack with 17 points. For Champion, Braylen Braham drilled a pair of three-pointers on his way to a team-leading 14 points.
Fairport Harding 79, Chalker 48 — The Skippers jumped ahead early in the first quarter but put the game on ice after a 29-point third quarter to dominate the Wildcats. Nearly all from Fairport Harding tallied a bucket, but Yomar Castellano led the way with five three-pointers en route to a game-high 19 points, Ben Allen lent 16 points and Jan Castellano added 10 in the win. For Chalker, Asher Wise led the way with 10 points in the loss.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Harding 33, Hoover 31 — In a close contest, the Raiders advanced to the Division II district final with the upset-win over the Vikings. Harding held Hoover to only three points in the final quarter while scoring eight to claim the contest. Leading the way for Harding was Trinity Taylor with 15 points. In the loss, Zoe McCort paced all scorers with 18 points for Hoover. Harding will square off against Twinsburg Saturday in the district final.
Howland 56, Roosevelt 42 — The Tigers earned the upset win over the Rough Riders Wednesday in the Division III district semifinal contest. Howland set the tone early, hauling in 20 points in the first quarter en route to the big win. Leading the was for the Tigers was Mia Thomas with 15 points and Sophia Powell with 11. In the loss, Claire Vandamme led all scorers with 16 for Roosevelt. Howland will take on top-seeded St. Vincent-St. Mary in Saturday’s district final.
Fitch 48, Euclid 30 — The Falcons cruised past the Panthers in the Division II district semifinal Wednesday. No statistics for either team were submitted. Fitch will face off against second-ranked Olmsted Falls Saturday in the district final.
Madison 73, Chaney 57 — The Blue Streaks pummeled the Cowboys in the Division III district semifinal game Wednesday night. No statistics for either team were submitted.
