BOYS BASKETBALL
LaBrae 73, Garfield 52 — The Vikings ended the G-Men’s three-game win streak with the dominant win Tuesday night. Derek Wilson led the LaBrae offensive attack with 20 points, Owen Boone was right behind with 19 points and Austin Rowe scored 13 in the win. For Garfield, Preston Gedeon pulled in a team-high 14 points and Cade Rock lent 12 in the loss.
Mineral Ridge 48, Western Reserve 34 — The Rams sailed to the win over the Blue Devils thanks to a strong, tone-setting first quarter. Chase Moore pulled in 19 points to lead Mineral Ridge and Blake Basista lent 11 in the win. For Western Reserve, Connor Cochran drilled five three-pointers on his way to 19 points to lead the Blue Devils in the loss.
West Branch 75, Dalton 71 (OT) — In a close game that needed extra time, the Warriors’ 10 points in overtime was enough to get past the Bulldogs for their third straight win. Cooper Anderson’s 25 points led the West Branch offense, Jeremiah Thomas added 15 and Joey Jackson lent 12 points in the win. For Dalton, Coy Wenger posted 24 points behind five made three-pointers, Matthew Heatwole lent 13 points, Brady Hignight and Gabe Clark each lent 12 points and Alex Hess hauled in 10 points in the loss.
Alliance 64, Canfield 60 — The Aviators found themselves down heading into the fourth quarter, but 19 points in the final frame was enough to earn the win over the Cardinals. JR Jackson made five buckets from three on his way to a game-high 27 points and Taije Nicholson lent 10 points in the win. For Canfield, Bryce Roberts made three triples leading to 16 points, Jake Delisio added 12 points, Ben Weaver added 11 and Drew Shapiro contributed 10 points in the loss.
Fitch 70, Boardman 64 — The Falcons trailed heading into the fourth quarter but posted 27 points in the final frame to earn the come-from-behind win over the Spartans. Marcel Finkley paced Fitch with 21 points behind three made shots from beyond the arc, Carter Owens lent 19 points on a near-perfect 11-for-12 performance from the charity stripe and Braeden Sallee added 10 points in the win. For Boardman, Terrell McDowell led with 20 points, Jerry Smith added 13 points, Grayson Eigher tabbed 11 points and Kaden Mahew contributed 10 in the loss.
Columbiana 65, United 43 — The Clippers cruised past the Golden Eagles Tuesday night, earning their seventh straight win. Twenty-five points from Seth Struharik led the Columbiana offense with 25 points and Cooper Brown chipped in 16 points as well. In the loss, Matthew Hoopes paced United with eight points.
Lakeview 51, Hubbard 40 — The Bulldogs jumped ahead and remained on top to handle the Eagles. Trace Goyzueta led the offensive attack for Lakeview with 19 points, Leo Parise tallied 15 points and Isaiah Lantz contributed 11 points in the win. For Hubbard, Jacob Hayes pulled in 16 points, Kyle Barr drilled four triples on his way to 14 points and Dylan BuCher lent 10 to handle all of the Hubbard scoring.
Lutheran West 73, Kennedy 52 — The Longhorns utilized a 25-point third quarter to breeze past the Eagles Tuesday night. Matt Meyer’s 17 points led Lutheran West in the win while Omar Martinez lent 15, Ryan Calo added 14, Jakaris Shelton chipped in 11 and Aiden Monroe contributed 10 points to round out the Longhorn’s leading scorers. For Kennedy, Nick Ryan pulled in a game high 25 points to lead the Eagles in the loss.
Lowellville 67, Jackson-Milton 52 — Lowellville held onto a slim lead heading into the break but came out firing on all cylinders in the third quarter, posting 25 points to propel the Rockets to the win over the Blue Jays. Vinny Sullivan exploded for 27 points behind four made triples, Bruce Brenner added 20 points and Drew Modelski tallied 10. In the loss, Ryen Romigh hauled in a game-high 28 points to lead Jackson-Milton, while Vincent Fay lent 11 and James Croyle chipped in 10 points.
South Range 52, Howland 38 — The Raiders jumped ahead early and stayed on top to best the Tigers. Nate Lewis sank four three-pointers on his way to a game-high 16 points for South Range, Graham Heikkinen added 13 and Tristan Toy tallied 11 points in the win. For Howland, Steven Bubon made three shots from beyond the arc en route to 11 points and Darren Douglas added 10 points in the loss.
Valley Christian 63, Leetonia 33 — The Eagles snapped a two-game skid late in the season with a crushing win over the Bears. Jaylen Robinson led Valley Christian with 19 points, Jerrell Miles added 15 points and Jordan Tutwiler drilled three triples on his way to 11 points. In the loss, Dylan Johns paced Leetonia with eight points.
Bristol 73, Maplewood 31 — The Panthers dominated the Rockets Tuesday to earn their seventh straight win. Kaiden Kohler led the Bristol offense with 24 points, Jack Berry added 18 more and Croc Thorp lent 12 points in the win. David Kern paced Maplewood with 12 points in the loss.
Brookfield 46, Champion 36 — The Warriors snapped a five-game skid Tuesday with the win over the Golden Flashes. Brookfield’s offense was led by Blake Hammond with 19 points. In the loss, Damien Wickham drilled three shots from deep on his way to 11 points for Champion.
Poland 72, Struthers 51 — The Bulldogs came out of the gates swinging and toppled the Wildcats Tuesday night. Leading the way for Poland was Carmine Tukalo who drilled three triples on his way to a team-high 19 points while Oliver McCully lent 16 in the win. For Struthers, Tommy Cole led all scorers with 24 points behind four made three-pointers and Logan Marciano added 10 points in the loss.
Crestview 73, Liberty 36 — The Rebels cruised to the dominant win over the Leopards thanks to a strong showing in the first half. Tanner Guy paced Crestview with 14 points, Jameson English and Tyler Savage each added 12 points and the trio of Jonathan Best, Hayden Patrone and Evan Neff each lent 11 points in the win. Liberty statistics were not submitted.
Niles 60, Girard 56 — The Red Dragons toppled the Indians Tuesday night, snapping the Girard five-game win streak. Niles was led by True Carey-Hardin with 21 points in the win. For Girard, Dom Phillips led all scorers with 30 points in the loss.
Cardinal Mooney 56, East 53 — The Cardinals edged out the Golden Bears Tuesday night in a close contest. Leading the Mooney offensive attack was Dom Letlow with 18 points, Marvin Dubos added 13 and Kingston Powell chipped in 12 points. In the loss, Jeremiah Swain led East with 16 points, Tyris Davis was right behind with 15 points and Kevin Pullen lent 10.
