High school scoreboard – April 22, 2025

BASEBALL

Crestview 2, Champion 1 (9 inn.) — The Rebels pulled out the win after Eli Cope drove in the walk-off run on a single. Crestview’s Zachary Davis and Champion’s Dylan Howell were caught in a pitchers’ duel. Davis allowed one run on three hits and a pair of walks, striking out nine in eight innings. Howell took the loss after giving up two unearned runs on six hits and two walks, punching out six in 8 2/3 innings. At the plate, Howell had two of the Golden Flashes’ three hits, and Shane Hixon had an RBI. Jayden Kimbel had an RBI for the Rebels as six different players each had a hit for Crestview.

Hubbard 3, Lakeview 0 — Gab Rusnak limited the Bulldogs to two hits and a walk in six innings for the win. Rusnak struck out seven before Maddox Ifft came in to pitch the final inning. Johnny Reyes doubled and had the only RBI of the game. Carter Doran and Nathan Paolucci had the only hits for Lakeview. Jacob Shaker took the loss. He allowed three runs – two earned – on two hits and two walks, striking out five in 5 1/3 innings of work.

Austintown Fitch 3, Brick Township (N.J.) 2 — After falling behind in the bottom of the second inning, the Falcons plated a pair of runs in the top of the third to take the lead. Mason Petridis was 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs, Gavis Loomis finished 2-for-5 with a run scored and Ross Harris had a pinch-hit RBI base knock. Anthony Wibert picked up the win, throwing four innings and allowing one run on three hits and three walks with four strikeouts.

Warren G. Harding 2, Boardman 0 — Gummy Hart earned the win for the Raiders. He struck out four and walked three. Colin Resetar took the loss after striking out seven and walking one. Hart had two doubles for the Raiders, and Vince Butto and Grayson Eicher each had two hits.

Warren JFK 2, Mogadore 1 (8 inn.) — The Eagles got RBIs from Landon Snyder and Michael Bartoe to pull out the victory. Snyder had a 3-for-5 day and Bartoe was 2-for-4. Freddy Bolchalk earned the complete-game win. Bolchalk allowed one run on four hits and struck out 14.

Poland 11, Lewisville (S.C.) (5 inn.) — An eight-run fourth inning broke things open for the Bulldogs and triggered the run rule. Tyson Tarajack gave up one unearned run on four hits and two walks, striking out 10 in a four-inning win. Carmine Tukalo and Jacob Hayes both had two RIBs. Hayes also scored three runs, and Tarajack reached home twice.

Bristol 7, Chalker 0 — The Panthers scored all seven runs in the first three innings, allowing the pitching to carry the team the rest of the way. Ronald Imhoff and Jonas Miller each had two RBIs for Bristol. Croc Thorp, Diesel Williams and Jack Berry each drove in a run. Berry doubled, and Imhoff scored twice. Logan Smallsreed went 3-for-4 for the Wildcats, who had five hits on the day. Williams and Berry both pitched three innings. Williams gave up four hits and struck out five, and Berry punched out a trio while surrendering one hit. Nick Karr took the loss, giving up seven runs – four earned – on five hits and two walks in 2 2/3 innings.

Mathews 12, Leetonia 2 — Freshman Caden Brown earned his first varsity win for the Mustangs. He struck out six without allowing a walk. Gabe Pesa, Jake Petak, Dom Toto, Ayden Nyako and Jimmy Pegg each had two hits for the Mustangs (4-4). Nyako and Pegg each doubled, and Pesa, Toto and Nyako each had three RBIs.Mason Cibula took the loss for the Bears (6-3), striking out one and walking three.

Brookfield 3, Southeast 2 (8 inn.) — Devan Reardon went 2-for-4 with a run scored, Josh Rankin recorded a hit with an RBI, and Mike Pisarcik drove in a run for the Warriors in the extra-inning win to kick off a doubleheader. Blake Hammond picked up the win after throwing 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief. Bray Coleman got the start for the Warriors, going 4 2/3 innings and allowing one unearned run.

Southeast 9, Brookfield 1 — The Pirates got their payback in Game 2 of the doubleheader. Southeast scored five runs in the bottom of the first to take a commanding lead. Blake Hammond, Hunter Warrender, Braydon Demaria, Joe Hook and Brandon Hardman each had a hit for the Warriors. Warrender took the loss. He allowed five runs – one earned – on two hits and five walks in two-thirds of an inning.

Mineral Ridge 8, Springfield 5 — The Rams registered 10 hits in the win. AJ Sandy had two hits and an RBI with a run scored, Jackson Geddes had two hits with an RBI and a run scored, Ethan Vestorsky tallied two hits, three runs scored and an RBI and Justin Dailey had a hit and two RBIs. Preston Kline went five innings, giving up four runs on three hits, six walks and four strikeouts.

Newton Falls 6, Garfield 3 — The Tigers scored four runs in the top of the eighth for the extra-inning victory. Leland Vargo and Ethan Powell both had two RBIs. Powell also had two of the Tigers’ four hits, and Vargo scored a run. Cameron Huff had a hit, a run scored and an RBI, and Wyatt Wheeler scored two runs. Garfield stats were not provided.

SOFTBALL

South Florence 3, Austintown Fitch 1 — The Falcons jumped ahead early in the first inning, but couldn’t hold the lead. Abby Toth doubled and Kaliana Ray singled for Fitch (10-2), and Tori Greathouse pitched four innings of relief. Fedorek took the loss after going three innings in the start.

Lakeview 12, Trinity Christian 1 (5 inn.) — The Bulldogs scored three runs in each of the first three innings to take a commanding 9-0 lead, and three more runs in the fifth triggered the mercy rule. Kalyssa Werner set the table as the leadoff hitter, going 4-for-4 with four runs scored and an RBI. Mackenzie Stowe was the beneficiary with three RBIs and a run scored on a 2-for-2 day, including a triple. Sienna Terry drove in a pair, and Kennedy Bartlett and Hallie Capan each had an RBI. Ava Bacon also had an RBI, and she earned the complete-game win. Bacon allowed one unearned run on four hits and a pair of free passes while punching out six.

Cardinal Mooney 9, Warren G. Harding 8 — Angela Bettura went 4-for-4 for the Cardinals. Grace Rinaldi had two RBIs, Giada Desantis had two hits and an RBI. Ramos struck out four and allowed eight hits in the win. Harding stats were not provided.

West Branch 9, Salem 4 — At Salem High School, the Warriors scored four runs in the second after falling behind 1-0. No. 9 hitter Libbie Davis scored two runs and stole home for the Warriors. Klary McKay hit a home run, and Ellie Tucker earned the win after allowing seven hits without an earned run given up. Emiliee Lewis took the loss, going three innings with six runs and four hits allowed while fanning two and walking four. Channing Toy had a 4-for-4 day for the Quakers. Morgane Blane and Aniya Jones both had RBIs.

Canfield 6, Lewisville (S.C.) 1 — Caylee Ortiz threw six scoreless innings for the Cardinals. She allowed one hit and struck out seven. Jenna Triveri had three hits and two RBIs, Sydney Lutz put the first runs on the board with a two-run single in the third inning. Sophia Payne stole four bases, and Marina Koenig, Sofia Castranova and Alexis Johnson each recorded hits.

Canfield 5, North Myrtle Beach (S.C.) 4 — Sydney Lutz hit two doubles with two RBIs, Jenna Triveri singled and doubled with two RBIs, and Caylee Ortiz had two hits. Cam Hrina gave up five hits in six innings in the circle. Paris Lindgren had a clean seventh inning for the save.

Padua Franciscan 10, Howland 7 — Howland trailed 8-1 after four innings, but the Tigers’ comeback came up short. Maya Kubancsek went 2-for-3 with three runs scored, including a solo home run. Madison Schmitz also had a two-hit day, including a double, with two runs scored. Brooke Tatar took the loss. She gave up 10 runs – three earned – on seven hits and three walks, striking out seven in four innings of work.

Mineral Ridge 16, Springfield 2 — After honoring the 1985 state champions, the Rams picked up 15 hits in the one-sided affair. Laney Rigley had a career-high four RBIs with two hits, Maddie Gerberry tallied three hits and three RBIs, Kelcee Dye registered three hits and two RBIs and Kourtni Kaminski added two hits and two RBIs. Magan Haynie also had a pair of hits, and Olivia Barker and Sydney Wyllie each drove in a run. Lily Merolillo scattered four hits and struck out two in four innings of work for the Rams.

Hubbard 11, Ursuline 7 — Layla Songer hit a home run and a triple for a 2-for-3 day with three RBIs and two runs scored for the Eagles. Emalee Warren doubled and added two more hits with two RBIs and two runs scored. Kaylee Schultz tripled and drove in three runs, and Lauren Komorek doubled and scored three runs. For Ursuline, Brooke Burton led the way with a 3-for-4 day, including a double and a triple, with three RBIs and a run scored. Katie Koulianos and Emma Davies both doubled, with Davies scoring three times and Koulianos adding an RBI and a run scored. Brooke O’Palick tripled and added a hit with two runs scored. Haleigh Taylor earned the win with six runs allowed – five earned – on seven hits and three walks in 3 2/3 innings. O’Palick took the loss after allowing five runs on five hits and a walk in an inning pitched.

Poland 6, Girard 5 — Poland scored five runs in the seventh inning to come back and win as part of a doubleheader. Sydney Bulick led the Bulldogs with a double and three RBIs, and Destanne Warren had two hits and two RBIs. Lillian McDonald earned the win after allowing five runs on seven hits and four walks, striking out five in a complete game. Brooklyn Broll had three RBIs for the Indians, and Caylee Wilkes and Gabby Doran each drove in one. Ava Serrano doubled and Gianna Saxon tripled. Chloe Plant took the loss after surrendering six runs on nine hits and five free passes in seven innings.

Poland 19, Girard 9 — The Bulldogs trailed 8-7 before scoring 10 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Lillian McDonald’s home run and four RBIs helped power Poland. Cassie Blanch had two hits and three RBIs, Ellianna Thompson doubled with two more hits and three RBIs and three runs scored, and Lena Schafer had two more RBIs. McDonald picked up the win after surrendering four runs on four hits and two walks. Ava Serrano had two hits and two RBIs for the Indians, and Gabby Doran tallied three hits and two runs scored. Brooklyn Broll was given the loss after giving up 13 runs – 10 earned – via 11 hits and seven walks in 4 1/3 innings.

Southeast 17, Brookfield 1 — Southeast scored eight runs in the bottom of the first inning and put up multiple runs in the third and fifth innings as well. Elaina Boyce and Grace Teal singled and doubled, respectively. They were the only hits for the Warriors. Madison Obermiyer took the loss, allowing 12 runs – nine earned – via 11 hits in three innings.
