BASEBALL
Bristol 13, Windham 3 (5 inn.) — With four runs in the first and second innings, the Panthers started hot and kept it up to throttle the Bombers. Diesel Williams tallied a pair of singles, Kaiden Kohler doubled, singled and drove in three runs, Ronald Imhoff added three singles, Brock Pierce lent a pair of singles and RBIs and Jack Berry tripled and tallied two RBIs. Williams picked up the win, allowing 10 hits, striking out three and walking two in four innings. For Windham, Dylan McCune, Jack Eye, and Brian Smithberger each singled twice. Brian King was given the loss in 3 2/3 innings, striking out and walking one while giving up nine hits.
Southeast 7, Crestview 1 — The Pirates kept the Rebels’ bats at bay and picked up the win thanks to Massrock allowing two hits, two walks and striking out eight in five innings. At the plate for Southeast, Blankenship doubled. For Crestview, Zachary Davis took the loss, throwing five innings while giving up six hits, one walk and striking out three.
St. John 12, Maplewood 9 — The Heralds toppled the Rockets thanks to a strong offensive showing. Leading the way was Cole with three hits and Campbell with two. Ryan Williams picked up the win for the Heralds, tossing 1 2/3 innings while walking none and striking out two. In the loss, Logan tallied four hits and Suba added two. Sexton was given the loss, striking out one and walking four in three innings.
Boardman 5, Howland 2 — The Spartans opened the scoring in the top of the first and rode that momentum to topple the Tigers. Ryan Neifer led Boardman with a pair of RBIs while Ivan Rudiak singled twice. Collin Resetar earned the win as the starter for Boardman, allowing seven hits, walking two and striking out nine. For Howland at the plate, Dominic Santee had a trio of singles. Steven Bubon was given the four-inning loss, giving up six hits, walking one and striking out two.
Hubbard 6, South Range 4 — The Eagles took a four-run lead into the seventh inning and staved off the Raiders’ last-minute attack to earn the win. Gus Johnson doubled in the win and Brady Ifft drove in two runs to lead the Hubbard offense. Seven other Eagles singled in the win. Gabe Rusnak picked up the win, fanning two, walking two and allowing six hits through five innings. For South Range, Lincoln Cleevely tallied three singles while Brennen Klasovsky singled twice and drove in two runs. Klasovsky was also given the complete-game loss, fanning six, walking five and allowing eight hits.
Girard 11, Salem 6 — The Indians found themselves down a run heading into the fifth inning, but they answered with seven runs in the frame to springboard themselves to the win over the Quakers. The explosive offense was led by Will Hynes with three doubles and a single, Ja’den Royal added a pair of singles, Zach Ward doubled, singled and drove in three runs, Santino Barone doubled and singled and Evan Tuttle drove in two runs. On the mound, Ricky Plant picked up the win, allowing eight hits, walking three and striking out one in five innings. For Salem at the plate, Bairon Exline doubled and singled twice, Brayden Van Dyne added a trio of singles and Derek Oesch singled twice and drove in two runs. Oesch was also given the loss, tossing 4 2/3 innings while striking out and walking four and allowing 10 hits.
Windham 8, Mathews 7 — The Rockets walked-off the Mustangs after giving up the lead in the top of the final frame. Leading the comeback win was Devin Sherman with a single and the walk-off two-run double while Keegan Kiser added a pair of singles, Dillon McCune singled and tripled and Jack Eye drove in two runs and had two hits. Kiser also picked up the win, striking out three and walking six. For Mathews, Ayden Nyake belted a home run, two singles and drove in three runs while Jimmy Pegg doubled and singled. Gabe Pesa was credited with the loss.
Mineral Ridge 5, Waterloo 0 — The Rams hammered the Vikings’ pitching while throwing a shutout defensively to pick up the win. At the plate for Mineral Ridge, Xavier Klamer singled twice and Ethan Vetorsky drove in two runs and had a pair of singles. On the mound, Jack Gillie picked up the win, tossing a complete-game shutout while walking one, allowing no hits and surrendering five hits.
Brookfield 15, Liberty 2 (5 inn.) — The third inning for the Warriors was explosive as the team put up 15 runs to throttle the Leopards. Leading the offensive attack was Hunter Warrender with a pair of singles and RBIs, Devan Reardon drove in three runs, Mike Pisarcik drove in two runs and Brandon Hardman added a pair of singles. Blake Hammond was given the win in relief, striking out two while giving up no hits and no walks in two innings. For Liberty, Trenton Long drove in two runs and singled. Connor Hallden was given the loss, striking out one, walking six and allowing five hits in two innings.
Fitch 5, Canfield 4 — The Falcons staved off a last-inning Cardinals’ attack to hold onto the lead and earn the win. At the plate for Fitch, Mason Petridis led with a double and three RBIs while Jackson Cheeks doubled as well. Carter Owens earned the win, fanning 11, walking three and allowing seven hits through six innings. For Canfield offensively, Dylan Mancini singled twice, Jake Dovich doubled, singled and drove in two runs while Joey Gabriel singled twice and drove in a pair of runs. Anthony Groner was given the loss in five innings, striking out six, walking five and allowing four hits.
Cardinal Mooney 9, Archbishop Hoban 4 — The Cardinals posted three runs in the bottom of the second and third innings to set the tone against the Knights and earn the win. Leading the offensive charge for Mooney was Ben Oddis with a pair of singles and three RBIs, Ford Stacy doubled and drove in four runs while Trent Litman added two hits. Stacy also picked up the win in six innings, fanning seven, walking one and allowing four hits. In the loss, Blake Bantum doubled and singled while Justice Buckner blasted a solo home run. Breyan Stewart was given the loss, allowing three hits, four walks and striking out three over two innings.
Lowellville 10, Campbell 0 (5 inn.) — The Rockets set the tone early over the Red Devils with seven runs in the first two innings and sealing the deal with three more runs in the bottom of the fifth. The Lowellville offense was led by Cody Nolfi singled three times and drove in two runs. Tyler Tuscano was given the win in four innings, striking out seven, walking two and allowing three hits. For Campbell, Malik Young was given the loss in four innings, fanning four, walking five and surrendering nine hits.
Newton Falls 2, LaBrae 1 — The low-scoring contest was decided by a single run in the bottom of the third inning by the Tigers to pick up the close win over the Vikings. Trevor Ruscoe blasted a solo home run for Newton Falls. Cameron Huff earned the win on the mound, striking out 11, walking two and allowing six hits in seven innings. For LaBrae offensively, Nathan Goldner also belted a solo home run. Landon Brunstetter was given the loss, throwing five innings, striking out nine, walking four and allowing two hits.
Garfield 1, Champion 0 (8 inn.) — It was a fierce pitcher’s duel that needed an extra inning to be decided on a walk-off by the G-Men to top the Golden Flashes. There wasn’t a lot of offense but Garfield’s Bogucki, Cunningham and Norton each singled. Hill was given the win, nearly going the distance while fanning 12, allowing three walks and a hit in 7 2/3 innings. For Champion, Howell singled and was given the loss, throwing all innings for Champion while striking out seven, walking three and allowing three hits.
Poland 3, Lakeview 0 — The early innings were productive for Poland in the win over Lakeview, posting two runs in the second and another an inning later. Leading the way at the plate was Tyson Tarajack with a double and single while Owen McKenzie lent a double. Tarajack also picked up the win, striking out nine in a complete-game shutout while walking one and allowing five hits. In the loss, Brandon Toot singled twice. Jacob Shaker was given the loss in six innings, fanning five, walking one and allowing four hits.
Louisville 6, Warren JFK 0 — Brunoni tossed five innings of one-hit ball for the Leopards to pick up the win in the shutout of the Eagles. Brunoni fanned two, walked two and allowed one hit on the mound. Offensively for Louisville, Loy and Burick both doubled. For Kennedy, Ryan was credited with the loss, striking out one, walking three and allowing two hits.
SOFTBALL
South Range 12, Hubbard 6 — The bats were alive in Monday’s contest as four Raiders went deep and one Eagle tallied two home runs as South Range picked up the win. Leading the 18-hit Raiders was Spooner with a home run and three singles, Pauline with a pair of doubles and three RBIs, Aey homered, doubled, singled and drove in two runs, DeeJesus singled twice, Bartels homered and singled, DeCiancio doubled, homered and drove in three runs and Brogan lent a double. DeJesus also earned the win, throwing 5 1/3 innings while fanning five, walking one and allowing four hits. For Hubbard, Taylor homered twice, driving in a game-high five runs while Songer singled twice. Taylor was given the loss, throwing two innings while giving up 10 hits and walking nong and striking out none.
Grand Valley 25, Lordstown 2 (5 inn.) — The Mustangs plated five runs in the first inning and capped off the offensive output with 12 more in the third to cruise to the win over the Red Devils. Leading the way for Grand Valley was Prah with three singles, Rowland with a pair of singles, Karacic added two doubles and a single and Morse doubled and singled three times. For Lordstown offensively, Emma doubled.
Struthers 14, Niles 6 — The Wildcat bats were on fire Monday in the crushing win over the Red Dragons. Leading the offensive charge was Giavanna Smiley with a double and two RBIs, Hannah Susany tallied three hits, Samantha Minno added four hits and Ella Bailey tripled twice, singled twice and drove in seven runs. Pitching and Niles statistics were not submitted.
West Branch 13, Columbiana 3 — Behind a perfect 4-for-4 performance by Ellie Tucker, and nine runs in the fourth inning, the Warriors crushed the Clippers. Tucker tallied four singles and drove in two runs, Klary McKay doubled and drove in two runs, Sara Schmidt doubled and singled twice and Addi Craven doubled. McKay earned the win, giving up four hits, walking none and striking out five in five innings. For Columbiana, Caitlynn Pleska drove in two runs. Addison Brode was given the loss, throwing four inning while allowing 11 hits and striking out and walking two.
Badger 10, Warren G. Harding 4 — The Braves put up eight runs in the top of the third inning and it was smooth sailing from there to top the Raiders. At the dish, Madison Lindus tallied a pair of singles and RBIs, Morgan Hall singled twice while Kyleigh Hall, Kiyah Scharfenberg and Samantha Bradbury each doubled. Bradbury picked up the win in 5 1/3 innings, striking out eight, walking five and allowing three hits. For Harding offensively, Azarriah Phillips singled three times. Karly Trisler was given the loss, throwing a complete game while striking out six, walking one and allowing nine hits.
Mineral Ridge 6, Waterloo 1 — With 12 hits, the Rams knocked around the Vikings’ pitching to claim the win. At the plate for Mineral Ridge, Sullivan Sandy was a perfect 4-for-4 with a pair of RBIs and Kelcee Dye added two hits and two RBIs while a host of Rams added a single, with Maddie Gerberry driving in two runs. In the circle, Lily Merolillo struck out 11 and allowed two hits in the complete game.
Salem 8, Girard 5 — Five runs from the Quakers in the top of the fourth was the nail in the coffin for the Indians Monday night. The offensive explosion was led by Channing Toy with a triple and single, Hadley Carlisle with a double and single, Morgane Blaine lent a pair of singles and RBIs while Aubrey Kutsko added three singles and Mikayla Sneltzer drove in two runs. Emilee Lewis picked up the complete-game win, fanning six, walking 10 and allowing eight hits. For Girard at the plate, Quinn Wilster had a pair of singles, Kyra Bell doubled and Gabby Doran drove in two runs. Brooklyn Broll was given the loss, tossing seven innings while walking one, striking out eight and allowing 13 hits.
Maplewood 11, St. John 1 (5 inn.) — The Rockets broke the seal in the first inning and sealed the deal with five runs in the third inning to topple the Heralds. Maplewood’s offense was led by Claire Urchek and Ava Calvert with a double and single each, Raegan Krieg drove in two runs and Lauran Krieg added three RBIs. Addison Marker was given the win, fanning six while walking none and allowing a hit in three innings in the circle. Isabelle Holler was given the loss in three innings while striking out two, walking none and surrendering six hits.
Liberty 9, Brookfield 6 — The Leopards put up two runs in each of the first two innings to start hot and ride that momentum to the win over the Warriors. Flips picked up the win in the circle, fanning 13 while walking two and allowing seven hits in a complete game. At the plate for Liberty, Flips helped her cause with a double and single, Horn drove in two runs on three singles while Spisak homered and had three RBIs. For Brookfield, Teal was given the loss in four innings, striking out two, walking two and allowing four hits. Offensively for Brookfield, Boyce was a perfect 4-for-4 with four singles and two RBIs while Jumper doubled.
Boardman 12, Howland 3 — The later innings for the Spartans is where they picked up offensively, scoring eight runs in the final three innings to best the Tigers. Leading that offensive surge was Tori Strines with a pair of home runs and a game-high five RBIs, Addie Rudge drilled three home runs and drove in four runs, Mikayla Rivera hit a solo home run and singled, Kenzie Cherne doubled and Gabi Sferra singled twice. Strines picked up the win in the circle, throwing four innings while giving up four hits and striking out four while allowing three walks. For Howland, Madison Schmitz hit a solo shot while Maya Kubancsek singled twice and Calleigh Luman drove in a pair of runs. Brooke Tatar was given the loss, striking out three, walking two and allowing nine hits in five innings.
Lakeview 16, Poland 15 — In the battle of the Bulldogs, Lakeview put up eight runs only to be answered right back as Poland added eight in the very next half-inning. Lakeview wound up holding on and claiming the victory. At the plate for Lakeview in the shootout, Kennedy Bartlett tallied four singles and drove in two runs, Mackenzie Stowe belted a home run and drove in three, Isabella Isenberg added a double and three RBIs, Hallie Capan doubled, singled and had three RBIs, Linnea Kovac homered and had two RBIs while Rylee Barnott added a pair of hits. Isenberg was given the win in relief, tossing 2 1/3 innings while fanning four, walking none and allowing three hits. For Poland’s offense, Elliana Thompson singled twice, Avery Jakubovic and Leanna Boccieri each drove in a pair of runs, Lillian McDonald homered, singled and drove in two and Cassie Blanch homered and had two RBIs. McDonald was given the loss, throwing five innings while striking out three, allowing three walks and surrendering 11 hits.
LaBrae 11, Newton Falls 1 (5 inn.) — The Vikings scored in each inning at the plate to throttle the Tigers. LaBrae posted four runs in the third inning to set the tone. Leading the way was RIley Rowe with a solo shot, double and single, Shelby Bragg and Leah DeArmitt added a pair of singles, Morgan Thompson doubled and drove in two runs and Vada Allen doubled twice. Rowe picked up the win as well, fanning 11 while allowing four free passes and a hit in five innings. Kylee Lance was given the loss, striking out two, walking one and allowing 13 hits in the complete game.
Jackson-Milton 8, Ursuline 4 — The Blue Jays toppled the Fighting Irish to improve to 7-1 on the young season. Leading the way for Jackson-Milton was Katie Byers in the circle, tossing a complete game while picking up a strikeout and walking five. At the plate for the Blue Jays, Byers singled twice and Emma Johns tripled. For Ursuline, Davies was given the loss, striking out 12 while walking three through five innings.
