SOFTBALL

Columbiana 14, East Palestine 0 (4 inn.) — The Clippers scored early and poured it on in the following innings to throttle the Bulldogs in game one of a doubleheader. Leading the charge for Columbiana offensively was Caitlynn Pleska who belted a home run, singled and drove in four runs, Alivia Bell with a home run, single and a game-high six RBIs and Addison Brode who blasted a solo home run. Brode also earned the win, tossing a one-hit complete game while walking none and striking out nine. Kennedy Andre was given the loss, striking out two, walking five and giving up nine hits in three innings.

Columbiana 11, East Palestine 6 (5 inn.) — The Clippers exploded for 10 runs in the opening frame, only for the Bulldogs to claw back right away in the second inning but it would be too little too late as Columbiana claimed the contest. The Clippers’ offense was headed by Caitlynn Pleska with a double and two RBIs, Maryn Hepler and Addison Brode each drove in two runs, Alivia Bell doubled and Landry Smith singled twice and drove in two. Peyton Stoy was credited with the win, fanning three, walking five and allowing two hits in 1 2/3 innings. In the loss, Taylor Foster singled twice. Alivia Magness was given the loss, throwing four innings while striking out one, walking four and surrendering eight hits.

From Monday

Mathews 17, Windham 0 — The Mustangs pummeled the Bombers thanks to a few bombs of their own. Four from Mathews homered in the win, but the offense was led by Rilee Paddock who belted a pair of home runs, two doubled and drove in four runs while Kelsie Newsome doubled and singled and Livy Matheny and Ava Shugart each homered, doubled and drove in three runs. Earning the win in the circle was Ashia Pate with nine strikeouts while allowing one hit and one free pass. Windham statistics were not submitted.

Mathews 10, Grove City 9 (8 inn.) — It took an extra frame, but the Mustangs edged out the Greyhounds to pick up the win. Offensively for Mathews, Kelsie Newsome tallied four hits and drove in three runs, Livy Matheny belted a home run, doubled, singled and had three RBIs, Rilee Paddock doubled twice, singled and drove in two and Mia Delgarbino slapped three hits. Ashia Pate picked up the win, fanning 13 while allowing three walks for Mathews. Grove City statistics were not submitted.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Cardinal Mooney 12, West Geauga 7 — Cardinal Mooney toppled the Wolverines thanks to a flock of Cardinals finding the back of the net. Leading the way for Mooney was Sophia Rotunno with four goals, Natalie Blasko and Frankie Cassese each adding a pair of goals and an assist while Olivia Scott, Lexi Italiano and Leah Hudak each scored and Brooke Campbell tallied an assist. In goal, Liviah Hunt recorded eight saves.

Kenston 9, Boardman 2 — The Bombers kept the Spartans at bay and let their offense shine. In the loss for Boardman, Tony Pinciaro opened the game’s scoring with a goal off of a Luke DeJoseph assist. Pinciaro scored again in the final frame. In goal, Hunter Richards tallied 12 saves in the loss. Kenston statistics were not submitted.
