BASEBALL
Jackson-Milton 10, Crestview 3 — Four runs from the Blue Jays in the opening frame set the tone early in the victory of the Rebels. Leading the way for Jackson-Milton at the plate was Dom Krol with a double and single, Jaidyn Henrysingled twice, Jaiden Scott blasted a solo home run, James Croyle drove in a pair of runs and Nate Craver added three RBIs. Caden Ruby picked up the win, striking out three, walking four and giving up six hits in six innings on the mound. For Crestview offensively, Isaac Unkefer singled twice and Braden Devine doubled. Luke Julian was given the loss, throwing two innings while striking out five, walking one and allowing five hits.
Grand Valley 9, Mathews 3 — In the battle of the Mustangs, Grand Valley knotted things up in the fourth inning and exploded for five runs in the sixth inning to best Mathews. Picking up the win on the mound was Payton Plizga with eight strikeouts without a walk. At the plate, Plizga helped his cause with a double and single, Eli Shoulders doubled, singled and drove in two runs and Carl Krieg and Carter Turk each singled twice. Caleb Nicula was given the loss, striking out five and walking three. For Mathews, Gabe Pesa singled three times and drove in two runs while Dom Toto and Jake Petak each added a pair of singles.
Canfield 8, Warren G. Harding 2 — Three runs in the second and three more insurance runs in the fifth sealed the deal for the Cardinals in the win over the Raiders. Leading the offensive charge for Canfield was Zain Jadallah, who belted a solo home run. Bobby Levonyak doubled and drove in three runs and Ryan Weibling added a double. Anthony Groner struck out seven, walked two and gave up a hit through four innings to earn the win. For Harding, Gummy Hard doubled twice. Cory Kuhn was given the loss in four innings, while striking out four, walking seven and allowing three hits.
Cardinal Mooney 2, Ursuline (9 inn.) — The Cardinals’ bats were alive but the team couldn’t get a run across until the top of the ninth inning, topping the Fighting Irish in extras. At the plate for Mooney, Ryan Reese, Kaden Reese and Rocco Gentile each singled twice while Will Petty doubled and drove in a run. Ford Stacy is credited with the win in relief, allowing one hit, one walk and striking out two through two innings. Dom Polkovitch threw all nine innings for Ursuline, striking out five, walking two and surrendering nine hits.
Mineral Ridge 3, Garfield 2 — The pitcher’s duel between the Rams and G-Men was decided in the seventh inning thanks to three runs from Mineral Ridge. Jack Gillie hit a bases-clearing double with two outs in the top of the seventh and was credited with two RBIs. For the Rams on the mound, Jack Gillie picked up the win in relief, throwing four innings. Garfield statistics were not submitted.
LaBrae 3, Champion 0 — Austin Rowe tossed a three-hit gem for the Vikings, striking out 10 without a walk in the complete-game win. For LaBrae at the plate, Owen Boone doubled, singled and drove in two runs, Rowe helped his cause with two singles and Landon Brunstetter doubled and singled in the win. For Champion, Zack Morris doubled and singled while Bradey Quinby doubled. Dylan Howell was given the loss, striking out three while giving up a walk and three hits in six innings on the mound.
South Range 11, Niles 0 — The Raiders got the lead early and poured it on to ground the Red Dragons. Tranovich tossed a two-hitter to earn the win, striking out 11 while allowing three free passes for South Range. At the dish, Nagy singled twice, Hiscox and Tranovich each singled twice and drove in two runs, while Cleevely and Papuga added doubles and Viano drove in two runs. Brixton Gilmour was given the loss, throwing five innings while striking out two, walking one and surrendering eight hits.
Bristol 11, Lordstown 1 (5 inn.) — The Panthers put up 10 runs in the first two innings and rode that momentum to best the Red Devils. Kaiden Kohler allowed one hit on the mound for Bristol in two innings while fanning four to earn the win. At the plate for the Panthers, Diesel Williams singled twice, Kohler added a pair of singles and RBIs and Keifer Swager lent a two-run home run. For Lordstown, Force was given the win, striking out two, walking five and allowing six hits.
SOFTBALL
Chalker 9, Mineral Ridge 5 — Two runs in the bottom of the first, four more in the bottom of the third and another two an inning later sealed the deal for the Wildcats in the win over the Rams. Chalker tallied 15 hits in the win and was led by Morgan Strock with four singles, Kelsey Kren tripled, Abby Grimm belted a home run, doubled and singled while driving in two runs, Riley Ashcraft lent a double, single and three RBIs, Tatum Hudak singled twice and drove in three and Gabby Hromada singled three times. In the circle, Hudak tossed a complete game, picking up 13 strikeouts while allowing four hits and walks. In the loss, Maddie Gerberry tripled. Savannah Turek was given the loss, striking out four, walking one and allowing 10 hits in 3 1/3 innings.
Canfield 20, Warren G. Harding 2 (5 inn.) — The Cardinals dropped 10 runs in the bottom of the third inning in the dismantling of the Raiders. Leading the Canfield offense was Marina Koenig with a double, three singles and four RBIs, Leah Figueroa homered, doubled and drove in four runs, Alexa Ignazio added three singles and RBIs, Jenna Triveri singled twice, Sydney Lutz drove in three runs, Ava Millich and Karmyn Moyer each singled twice and Alexis Johnson doubled. Cam Hrina earned the win, allowing three hits. Harding statistics were not submitted.
Columbiana 12, Lisbon 1 — The Clippers jumped out to an early lead and poured it on to topple the Blue Devils. Leading the offensive charge was Caitlynn Pleska with two home runs, a single and five RBIs, Maryn Hepler with a home run, triple and two RBIs, Anna Yonker added a pair of singles, Landry Smith doubled and singled and Addison Brode lent a double. Peyton Stoy earned the complete-game win, striking out three, walking one and surrendering four hits. Kamryn Peruchetti was given the loss for Lisbon, throwing 1 1/3 innings, walking and striking out none while giving up six hits.
Mathews 9, Grand Valley 0 — The battle of the Mustangs went the way of Mathews and the team blanked Grand Valley. Ashia Pate was credited with the win, striking out 14, walking two and allowing two hits in a complete game. At the plate for Mathews, Mia Delgarbino was a perfect 3-for-3 with a home run, double, single and three RBIs while Kennedy Newsom doubled and drove in three runs, Olivia Matheny doubled and had two RBIs and Allie Ramsey had three hits. Grand Valley statistics were not submitted.
Poland 21, Struthers 1 (5 inn.) — In their first three times at the plate, the Bulldogs scored 19 runs to throttle the Wildcats. Poland notched 22 hits Wednesday and was led by Elliana Thompson with a double, two singles and three RBIs, Leanna Boccieri singled twice and drove in four runs, Lillian McDonald singled twice and drove in three runs, Kylee Hudran added three singles and RBIs, Cassie Blanch doubled and singled, Sydney Bulick singled three times and drove in two runs and Madison Medvec singled twice. In the circle, McDonald picked up the win and was perfect through two innings, striking out three. For Struthers, Katie Morris was given the loss, throwing three innings and walking five, striking out none and allowing 20 hits.
Maplewood 18, Fairport 1 (5 inn.) — The Rockets plated 15 runs in the first two innings and cruised to the crushing win over the Skippers. Emily Perline picked up the win behind an 11-strikeout performance while allowing a pair of walks and hits in five innings. At the plate, Claire Urchek doubled, singled and drove in three runs, Ava Marker blasted a home run and drove in four runs, Aleesia Woomer doubled, Lauran Krieg tripled and drove in three runs and Hayley Flinner drove in a pair of runs. For Fairport, Arianna Figueroa was given the loss, striking out three while walking eight and giving up five hits. Offensively, Natalie Phillips tripled.
Bristol 30, Lordstown 12 — There was no lack of offense Wednesday night as both the Panthers and Red Devils combined for 42 runs with Bristol claiming the win by 18. Skylar Gibson led the Bristol offense with a home run, single and four RBIs while Cadence Imhoff drove in four as well. Full statistics were not submitted.
South Range 19, Niles 0 (3 inn.) — The Raiders offense exploded in the first game of a double header with the Red Dragons. The offensive onslaught was headed by Spooner with a triple, single and three RBIs, Brogan with a home run, double and three RBIs, Rupert with a pair of singles and RBIs, while Aey drove in two runs while Pauline lent a triple. DeJesus was credited with the win, throwing two innings while striking out four, walking none and giving up one hit. Airiana Jones was given the loss for Niles, picking up a strikeout, walking six and giving up 13 hits.
South Range 12, Niles 0 (5 inn.) — In the second game of the double header, the Raiders claimed the contest over the Red Dragons. Wilt was given the win, fanning 12, walking one and surrendering three hits in five innings. At the plate, Aey, DeJesus and Bartels each doubled and singled, DeCiancio doubled, singled and drove in three runs, Winner doubled and Pauline tripled for South Range. Zoey Beck is credited with the loss, throwing four innings while striking out and walking one and allowing 11 hits. Addie Martin slapped a pair of singles for Niles in the loss.
Pymatuning Valley 10, Badger 4 — Hannah Young picked up the win in the circle for the Lakers in the six-run routing of the Braves. Young threw all seven innings, striking out seven, allowing 12 hits and walking none. At the plate for PV, Allison Clark doubled, singled twice and drove in four runs, Haines doubled, Aislyn Fuller belted a solo shot and Young added a pair of RBIs. For Badger offensively, Kyleigh Hall tripled and singled, Isabella Bailey doubled, tripled and singled, Madison Lindus singled twice, Samantha Bradbury doubled twice and drove in two runs and Reghan Broadwater singled twice. Bailey was given the loss, throwing five innings while striking out three, walking six and striking out eight.
West Branch 10, Minerva 6 — Despite falling in the early innings, the Warriors plated a crooked number in the top of the fifth to jump ahead and claim the contest over the Lions. Ellie Tucker picked up the win for West Branch, giving up six hits and one strikeout and walk through four innings. Sara Schmidt tripled, singled and drove in three runs, Tucker added three hits while Mati Hawk, Josie Milliken, Addi Craven and Carly Loper each tallied a pair of hits. Sierra Cress was given the loss, throwing a complete game while striking out and walking one and gave up 14 hits. In the loss, Delaney Sell slapped three hits and drove in three runs and Dakota Breton added two hits.
Lakeview 8, Hubbard 6 — A back-and-forth game was claimed thanks to two runs from the Bulldogs in the top of the sixth, breaking the deadlock with the Eagles. For Lakeview at the plate, Hallie Capan belted a home run, singled and drove in three runs, Kennedy Bartlett singled twice and Mackenzie Stowe doubled and singled. In the circle, Isabella Isenberg went the distance, throwing seven innings while striking out three, walking four and giving up nine hits. For Hubbard, Haleigh Taylor doubled twice, singled and drove in two runs, Ashley Masluk had a trio of singles and just as many RBIs while Layla Songer and Emalee Warren both doubled. Taylor was given the loss, striking out three, walking three and giving up 10 hits in 5 2/3 innings.
Howland 11, Girard 1 (5 inn.) — The Tigers’ bats were on fire Wednesday night in the 10-run throttling of the Indians. Leading the offensive attack was Brooke Tatar with a pair of home runs and four RBIs, Madison Schmitz singled twice and drove in two runs, Mary Moy was a perfect 4-for-4 with a double, three singles and a pair of RBIs and Ella Newbroughbelted a solo home run and a single. Complementing the Howland offense was a strong pitching performance by Tatar. In the win, the hurler threw three innings while fanning six, walking one and allowing one hit. Brooklyn Broll was given the loss after three innings in the circle, surrendering 11 hits.
