COMMUNITY NEWS: Fitch to present ‘Phantom’

DRAMA CLUB PRODUCTION: The Austintown Fitch High School Drama Club will present “The Phantom of the Opera” 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday in the high school auditorium. At Sunday’s show, there is also an option to purchase a pre-sale ticket for a dinner theater with a meal before the show. Tickets are available at austintownschools.

6TH WARD TOWN HALL: The Youngstown 6th Ward town hall meeting will take place 5 p.m. today at the Newport Library on Market Street. Discussion will include construction updates on former Bottom Dollar and former McDonald’s buildings, Market Street Park, Glenwood Avenue and Market Street facade projects, review of American Rescue Plan spending and 2025 street paving.

STEAM NIGHT: Girard City Schools will host a Family STEAM Night 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the high school for activities involving science, technology and engineering and math.

AUDUBON SOCIETY HOSTS PROGRAM: The Audubon Society of the Mahoning Valley will host a program at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Austintown Senior Center, 112 Westchester Drive. The theme is “Brazilian Wildlife Adventure.” Brazil has the third-most bird species of all the countries in the world.

ALTRUSA LUNCHEON: Altrusa of Youngstown is hosting its Spring Fling luncheon April 10 at Avion on the Water, 2177 W. Western Reserve Road, Canfield. The program will be “Youngstown and The R.M.S. Titanic” presented by Traci Manning of The Mahoning Valley Historical Society. There will be a buffet lunch, cash bar, bag raffle and door prizes. Cost is $40. FELINE FIX FEST: Angels for Animals is hosting its third annual Feline Fix Fest where community members are being invited to sponsor a cat to be spayed or neutered. Cost is $40 for spay or $20 for neuter. Anyone who sponsors five cats will receive a t-shirt. For information, call 330- 549-1111

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: The Oakhill Cemetery volunteer research team is looking for people to join the team to help preserve the history of Oakhill Cemetery. Activities being planned include replacing veterans’ headstones.
